How to Unlock Key Early Tools, Magic, and Hellkitten Form

Quick route: Start Orlock's Wine Scheme and follow the objective to Viktor to collect your first tools. Next, complete A Bridge Too Far to open the Ambrosia Estate, Ambrosia Graveyard, and Cave of Echoes. Continue the Crest Garden story through The Dinner Party to unlock Hellkitten form.

Luna's Come Visit! letter usually arrives about two nights after the dinner. Read it to begin the path to The Magic of Crops. If the letter does not appear, complete your other active story objectives and continue checking the mailbox.

The unlocks below cover mining, obstacle clearing, watering, fishing, critter catching, magic, and faster movement. Version note: Patch 1.1.41 fixed an issue that caused the Net to consume energy after a missed swing. The update reached Steam before other platforms, so check your installed version and follow the prompts shown in your copy of the game.

Early Unlock Requirements

Catch three different fish species and report back to earn 250 coins.	Cast near a visible fish shadow. The starter rod catches small fish, while large fish require the Premium Fishing Rod.
Net	Complete A Bridge Too Far, meet Death in the Ambrosia Graveyard, and enter town on a later night to trigger his second scene.	Death gives you the Net during the town scene.	Use it to catch bugs and Soul Blobs. In patch 1.1.41 or later, a missed swing should not consume energy.
Copper Pickaxe	After A Bridge Too Far, enter the Cave of Echoes, collect Copper Ore, smelt Copper Bars, and buy the upgrade from Ridge at Howling Hammer.	1,000 coins, 1 Rusty Pickaxe, and 3 Copper Bars. Making the bars requires 12 Copper Ore and 3 Charcoal.	The Copper Pickaxe can mine Iron Ore. You will need an Iron Pickaxe to mine Gold Ore in the Cave of Echoes.
Copper Axe	Buy it from Ridge's tool-upgrade tab.	1,000 coins, 1 Rusty Axe, and 3 Copper Bars.	It cuts trees and logs in fewer hits and breaks stronger wooden obstacles.
Copper Watering Can	Buy it from Ridge's tool-upgrade tab.	1,000 coins, 1 Rusty Watering Can, and 3 Copper Bars.	It uses less water than the Rusty Watering Can. Magical crops still need Aquaflux.
Repaired Wand	Read Luna's Come Visit! letter and visit her farm to begin The Magic of Crops. Follow the quest to Webb of Wonders to repair the Broken Wand.	Quest service with no listed purchase cost.	Return to Luna after the repair. This repaired starter wand is separate from the Witch's Wand awarded later in the story.
Aquaflux I	Luna teaches it during The Magic of Crops after your wand is repaired.	Free quest spell; costs 1 mana per cast.	Gesture: Up → Right → Down → Up → Left → Down. It summons one watering can that can water up to 16 crops. Magical crops require Aquaflux to grow.
Refilliarmus	Buy it at Webb of Wonders after spellcasting is unlocked.	2,000 coins; costs 0 mana per cast.	Gesture: Right → Down → Left → Right. It instantly refills your watering can.
Arborascend I	Buy it at Webb of Wonders after unlocking spellcasting. You will use it during The Mysterious Bay.	1,200 coins. Spell listings show a 2-mana cost, but the story cast at the fallen log has been reported to require 3 mana. Arrive with at least 3.	Gesture: Down → Up → Right → Left → Up. The fallen log is beside the small waterfall west of the stairs leading to Luna's seed cart in Moonlit Pines.
Hellkitten form	Complete The Dinner Party at Ambrosia Mansion.	Story unlock.	This unlocks the form wheel and Hellkitten form. Hellkitten runs faster than your normal walking speed, tills farm soil, digs marked spots, and talks to creatures.

Does Moonlight Peaks Have Fast Travel?

Yes, but Hellkitten form is faster movement, not fast travel. Once you complete The Dinner Party, use Hellkitten to make regular trips across the map quicker. This is the main early-game substitute for teleportation, but it does not replace the Witch's Circle network unlocked later.

Later in the magic story, Wanderer's Hex can activate a nearby inactive Witch's Circle for 4 mana. Activated circles become fast-travel points. Player reports indicate that you pay the activation cost once per circle and can then travel between active circles without spending more mana.

How to Use Tools, Spells, and Forms

Tools: On the default PC layout, press E to open the tool wheel, then press R or left-click to use the selected tool. Standard controller defaults use RB for the tool wheel and X for Use. Rebound controls and platform-specific layouts take priority over these defaults.
Spells: Equip the repaired wand and enter the rune directions recorded in the Almanac. Controller players can use the D-pad or stick, while mouse users can trace the pattern.
Hellkitten: Open the form wheel with Q on the default keyboard layout or LB on a standard controller. Select Hellkitten, then use the displayed action prompt while standing on farm soil or a marked dig spot.

Upgrade note: A Copper upgrade consumes the matching Rusty tool. The mining order is Rusty Pickaxe for Copper Ore, Copper Pickaxe for Iron Ore, and Iron Pickaxe for Gold Ore.

If an Unlock Does Not Trigger

Finish the active named objective in your journal. These unlocks are tied to specific quests and events.
Check the map for an event sparkle before entering the required area.
After The Dinner Party, advance about two nights and read any new mail before leaving the farm. If Luna's invitation is still missing, continue your other story quests.
For the Net, make sure you have met Death in the Ambrosia Graveyard before searching for his later town scene.
If Hellkitten is missing, confirm that The Dinner Party is complete and reopen the form wheel. If the slot still does not appear, advance to the next night, restart the game, and check again.

This early unlock list ends with Hellkitten form. Its faster running speed is your best early option for crossing the map until you unlock the Witch's Circle fast-travel network.
