How to Unlock Key Early Tools, Magic, and Hellkitten Form

Quick route: Start Orlock's Wine Scheme and find Viktor on your farm to unlock the tool wheel and your basic tools. Next, complete A Bridge Too Far to open the Ambrosia Estate, Ambrosia Graveyard, and Cave of Echoes. Continue the Crest Garden story through The Dinner Party to unlock the forms wheel and Cat Form, often called Hellkitten form.

Magic becomes available through Luna's Come Visit! letter, which arrives around the same stage of the story as The Dinner Party. Visit Luna to begin The Magic of Crops, repair the Broken Wand at Webb of Wonders, and complete Luna's remaining objectives to unlock spellcasting. Bat Form arrives much later, near the end of the main story, through Master of the Night.

Version note: Patch 1.1.41 fixed a bug that caused the Net to use energy on missed swings. The patch reached PC first, with the fix included in later console and Google Play updates. If missed swings still cost energy, check your installed game version.

Early Unlock Requirements

Net	Complete A Bridge Too Far, meet Death at the Ambrosia Graveyard, and return to town after the next Death scene becomes available.	Death gives you the Net.	Use it to catch bugs and Soul Blobs. In updated versions, missed swings do not use energy.
Copper Pickaxe	Mine Copper Ore in the Cave of Echoes, smelt it into Copper Bars, and purchase the upgrade from Ridge at Howling Hammer.	1,000 coins, the Rusty Pickaxe, and 3 Copper Bars. Smelting the bars requires 12 Copper Ore and 3 Charcoal.	The Copper Pickaxe can mine Iron Ore. You need an Iron Pickaxe to mine Gold Ore.
Repaired Wand and Aquaflux I	Read Luna's letter, visit her farm, repair the wand at Webb of Wonders, and continue The Magic of Crops.	Quest unlock. Aquaflux I costs 1 mana per cast.	Aquaflux I waters up to 16 crops. Trace Up → Right → Down → Up → Left → Down. Magical crops must be watered with Aquaflux.
Refilliarmus	Purchase it from Webb of Wonders after unlocking spellcasting.	2,000 coins; 0 mana per cast.	Instantly refills the watering can.
Arborascend I	Purchase it from Webb of Wonders. You need it during The Mysterious Bay to move the fallen tree.	1,200 coins. The spell table lists a 2-mana cost, but the quest interaction requires 3 mana, so arrive with at least 3.	Trace Down → Up → Right → Left → Up. The fallen tree is beside the small waterfall west of the stairs leading to Luna's seed cart in Moonlit Pines.
Hellkitten or Cat Form	Complete The Dinner Party at Ambrosia Mansion.	Story unlock.	The forms wheel calls it Cat Form. It improves movement speed and can till soil, uncover marked dig spots, and let you speak with creatures.
Bat Form	Complete the later main-story quest Master of the Night.	Deliver Red Wine to Orlock, complete the Chalice objectives, and bring either a Raspberry or Cranberry to the graveyard.	Bat Form is mainly useful for faster local movement and exploration. It does not replace Witch's Circle fast travel, and some rooms prevent you from transforming.

How to Unlock Bat Form in Master of the Night

The documented Master of the Night objectives do not list a friendship or heart requirement. Continue the main story through Seeing Seers, A Missing Moon, and Moon in the Sky. Once the moon ritual is complete, enter Misty Shores and walk toward Ambrosia Mansion to trigger Orlock's scene.

Follow the journal objectives in order. Deliver Red Wine to Orlock, collect his Special Order from Coffee & Coffins, return to Ambrosia Mansion, and speak with Jarvis. Find all three Chalice Pieces in Misty Shores, ask Mina about the Chalice, repair it at a Furnace, and take it back to the mansion.

Exact Bat Form unlock point: After returning the repaired Chalice, bring either a Raspberry or a Cranberry to the Ambrosia Graveyard. Completing this final objective adds Bat Form to the forms wheel.

What Bat Form Does—and What It Does Not Do

Bat Form: Speeds up travel within an area and helps with later exploration. It does not teleport you between regions.
Hellkitten or Cat Form: This earlier land form improves movement and can till soil, uncover marked dig spots, and enable creature conversations.
Aqua Form: This is a separate swimming transformation awarded through The Mermaid's Wish. Bat Form does not replace it.
Witch's Circles: These provide point-to-point fast travel. Each circle must first be activated with Wanderer's Hex.

Does Moonlight Peaks Have Fast Travel?

Yes. Witch's Circles provide true fast travel. Cat Form and Bat Form help you move faster, but neither one teleports you between locations.

Wanderer's Hex comes from Sabrina's friendship route, not Master of the Night. Reach four hearts with Sabrina, view her With a Bang event, and read the follow-up A New Spell letter. The spell costs 4 mana and permanently activates one nearby inactive Witch's Circle. Once at least two circles are active, traveling between them does not consume additional mana.

How to Use Tools, Spells, and Forms

Tools: With the default PC controls, press E to open the tool wheel and use R or left-click to use the selected tool. Standard controller controls use RB for the tool wheel and X for Use.
Spells: Equip the repaired wand and trace the spell's directional pattern. You can review unlocked patterns and mana costs in the Almanac.
Forms: Press Q on the default keyboard layout or LB on a standard controller to open the forms wheel. If Bat Form will not activate, move outdoors or try another room.

Upgrade note: A Copper upgrade consumes the matching Rusty tool. In the Cave of Echoes, the Rusty Pickaxe mines Copper Ore, the Copper Pickaxe mines Iron Ore, and the Iron Pickaxe mines Gold Ore.

If an Unlock Does Not Trigger

Complete the current named journal objective before looking for the next scene.
Check the map for sparkling locations or event icons that may mark an available cutscene.
If magic remains locked after The Dinner Party, continue checking the mailbox for Luna's Come Visit! letter. Published sources do not establish an exact guaranteed delay.
If the Net is missing, confirm that Misty Shores is open and that you have seen Death's scene at the Ambrosia Graveyard. Sleep, then return to town to check for the later scene.
If Cat Form is missing, make sure The Dinner Party is complete, then reopen the forms wheel.
If Master of the Night has not started, finish the main-story sequence through Moon in the Sky. Then walk through Misty Shores toward Ambrosia Mansion.
If Bat Form has not unlocked, confirm that you repaired and returned the Chalice and completed the Raspberry-or-Cranberry objective at the graveyard.
If Bat Form appears in the wheel but cannot be selected, move outdoors or enter another area. Some rooms restrict the transformation.

The early unlock route ends with Cat Form, commonly called Hellkitten form. Bat Form comes much later through Master of the Night. Use forms to move around individual areas more quickly, and use Witch's Circles when you need point-to-point fast travel.
