Atari CX40 Akiba Championship Assembly Order
Tested: Steam launch retail build on Windows, August 10, 2026. This Atari CX40 sequence completed the Akiba Championship successfully.
The Akiba Championship removes the normal order hints, and one wrong placement restarts the attempt. That is when the two black casing halves start looking like matching lunchbox lids. Begin with the hollow half; the shell carrying the tall joystick belongs near the end.
This sequence is only for the device named Atari CX40. Do not reuse it for the Atari 2600 or another controller. Similar badge, very different pile of bench confetti.
Atari CX40 placement order
- Bottom casing: Choose the plain black half with the open cavity, not the half carrying the tall joystick. Set the cavity open side up.
- Motherboard: Lower the square brown board into the casing with its copper-colored tracks facing up. Center its round opening over the post in the case.
- Joystick: Place the pale joystick mechanism through the board’s center opening. Keep the long white stem pointing straight up and the wide collar flat against the board.
- Red button: Fit the red action button into the remaining round corner pocket. Keep the wide red cap facing up.
- Power cable: Place the multicolored lead end inside against the contact pins at the board’s edge. Leave the black cord outside the casing through the rear cable channel.
- Top casing: Use the black half with the tall stick and orange ring. Keep the stick upright, line up the empty button hole with the red button, and lower the shell onto the base.
- First screw: Take a screw from the screw dish and place it in the left target beside the red button.
- Second screw: Place the next screw in the center target on the joystick shaft.
- Third screw: Place the next screw in the target on the right side of the joystick ring.
- Fourth screw: Finish with the bottom target. The four screws look identical, so the left-center-right-bottom sweep gives you a clean visual check that none were missed.
Warning: A wrong component or out-of-order placement ends the championship attempt and sends you back to the start. If a held part will not settle into its snap point, keep holding it and adjust its position or orientation. Do not release it as a guess.
Completion check: After the fourth screw, no CX40 components should remain. The controller closes fully and the championship success result appears. Recheck this order after any patch that changes the championship or the Atari CX40 assembly.
