Blade Tombs and Special Techniques
If you have spent a full minute circling a bull pillar while one colored receptor refuses to stay on-screen, welcome to the island’s favorite joke. For the beam tombs below, use the exact lit or marked plate listed in the steps. Aim the green beam first, then rotate red and blue onto their matching receptors. Kopis and Broken Spear are the exceptions; neither requires a three-color beam puzzle.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has eight base-game Blades. The Rusty Sword and Falchion arrive through the story. The other six are found in Heroes’ Graves, often called Blade tombs. Each grave Blade unlocks a special combat technique rather than a simple damage upgrade. That is the good stuff: Sophia walks in with a light puzzle and walks out with a new way to ruin a soldier’s afternoon.
Automatic Blades and Bonus Equipment
- Rusty Sword — Chapter 1: Blood Ties. Sophia receives it automatically when the game first teaches combat. It has no special technique.
- Falchion — Chapter 2: Felons, Subchapter 2: The Carnival. During Follow the pieces of cloth to the church, interact with the barrel beside the boat. The story awards the Falchion and Grapnel. Momentum Strike adds Blade damage after a successful Critical Strike.
- Heritage Pack Blade. The Heritage Pack adds the Minoan Sword, which appears in the Blade list as Hero’s Blade. It unlocks beside the Falchion for owners of the pack and uses the same Momentum Strike technique. It is bonus equipment, not a Heroes’ Grave reward, and it is not required for the base-game Blade trophies or achievements.
Missed grave Blades can be collected through Chapter Select after the story, and each chapter card shows its Blade count. Plunderer requires the eight base Blades. For Adaptable, defeat at least one enemy with each of those eight, including the Rusty Sword. The Heritage Pack Blade does not count.
1. Kopis — Chapter 4: From Hell It Rose
Subchapter: 3, Puzzles and Traps. Objective: Progress through the Trial. Entrance landmark: the tunnel immediately after the mirror-guided spike room, the falling walkway spikes, and the squeeze-through gap. The story has already given Sophia the Sphere. This grave uses a receptacle and does not require the three-beam function.
Hint: After escaping the spikes, do not hurry past the lone receptacle. It opens the floor beneath the tomb.
- Cross the large trap room by following the safe route revealed by Leni’s reflected light.
- Open the door, run across the walkway as its spikes activate, and shimmy along the ledge at the far end.
- Squeeze through the gap on the right and follow the tunnel to the receptacle. Collect the Resonance Point on its left before using it.
- Activate the receptacle to reveal the stone steps beneath the floor.
- Descend and open the large tomb chest. Confirm that the pickup panel shows Kopis — Stagger Blow.
Technique: Stagger Blow makes the last hit of a completed combo deal heavy stun damage. It rewards finishing the full attack string, so it will not trigger if Sophia must dodge or parry before the final hit.
Return to the route: Crouch through the low gap inside the tomb and slide down the slope. This places Sophia on the forward campaign path; do not climb back toward the spike rooms.
2. Greek Sword — Chapter 5: Desolation It Wrought
Subchapter: 3, The Four Symbols. Objective: Find the second symbol. Entrance landmark: the abandoned camp opposite the large green gate, marked by a bull pillar and broken columns. You need the Sphere’s three-beam function, which is available by this point in the story.
Hint: The correct firing point is not beside the bull pillar. It is on top of the ruins across from it, near the bird’s nest and Resonance Point.
- In the central room with four pedestals, take the exit marked by a circle with three short lines.
- Cross the broken bridge, climb the path on the left, and drop into the enemy area. Defeat the soldiers.
- Face the large green gate, then turn around and enter the abandoned camp behind you. Do not crawl beneath the gate yet.
- Climb the ruined columns across from the bull pillar. Four greenish floor plates wait at the top.
- Stand on the plate closest to the Resonance Point and bird’s nest, near the end of the left-hand pillar.
- Switch the Sphere to its three-beam function. Aim green at the green receptor on the bull face, then rotate red and blue onto their matching receptors.
- When all three stay lit, the axe-marked floor hatch opens in the camp below. Descend and open the tomb.
- Confirm that the pickup panel shows Greek Sword — Spinning Slash.
Technique: Spinning Slash removes Sophia’s dagger finisher. Her Critical Strike becomes a wide spinning cut that damages nearby enemies. It is handy when the battle camera introduces three soldiers at once, but you lose the focused dagger finish against one target.
Return to the route: Climb out of the crypt and retrace your path to the cleared enemy area. Go to the large green gate and crawl through the tunnel beneath it.
3. Sica — Chapter 6: What Lies Beneath
Subchapter: 5, The Architect. Objective: Find a way to the surface. Entrance landmark: the small side tunnel on the left of the dark corridor after the green story door. You must first obtain Daedalus’s Key, the story bracer that opens green doors. The Sphere’s three-beam function is also required.
Hint: Use the sunlit block on the left. From there, blue points almost straight down while red reaches its target through a mirror.
- After receiving Daedalus’s Key, use the bracer to open the green door leading into the dark corridor.
- Follow the corridor around the right bend. Watch the left wall for a small tunnel beside a Resonance Point.
- Enter the tunnel, jump across the first gap, drop to the lower ledge, and jump into the chamber with the large statue.
- Face the statue, climb the low block on the left, and jump to the next block where sunlight forms a bright standing point.
- Use the Sphere’s three-beam function. Aim green at the receptor below the statue, set blue on the receptor directly below Sophia’s platform, and rotate red toward the rear-right mirror so it reflects into the final receptor.
- The opening at the statue’s base unlocks. Descend, collect the Resonance Point beside the tomb, and open it.
- Confirm that the pickup panel shows Sica — Focus Rush.
Technique: Focus Rush increases the Focus Gauge whenever Sophia kills an enemy with the Sica. Quick kills in a busy fight can help fund more Focus attacks.
Return to the route: Jump back across the chamber and leave through the same tunnel. At the main corridor, turn left, climb the steps, and open the green door at the end with Daedalus’s Key.
4. Khopesh — Chapter 7: Death It Sowed
Subchapter: 2, The Whole Damn Army. Objective: Reach the Black Temple. Entrance landmark: the back-left edge of the broad volcanic clearing filled with short white stone pillars. The grave stands across the area from the side passage leading to the Kill Onyx Artefact. Reaching this part of the chapter uses the story Grapnel, and opening the tomb requires the Sphere’s three-beam function.
Hint: Enter the clearing, turn left, and keep the outer cliff on Sophia’s left until the tomb monument comes into view.
- After leaving the underground route, follow the left edge of the white-pillar clearing to the tomb monument.
- Stand on the metal plate directly in front of the sealed entrance.
- Switch the Sphere to its three-beam function and aim green at the receptor above the tomb door.
- Rotate red and blue until both reach their matching receptors. All three must stay lit at once.
- Descend the opened steps and loot the tomb. Collect the Resonance Point on the right before leaving.
- Confirm that the pickup panel shows Khopesh — Deep Bleed.
Technique: Deep Bleed makes the last hit of a combo inflict a serious wound that deals damage over time. It is useful against sturdy targets, but the bleed will not trigger if Sophia breaks the combo before its last hit.
Return to the route: Leave the tomb and keep the cliff on Sophia’s left. Jump the gap, defeat the soldiers, and use the Grapnel to tear down the wooden barrier. Climb through and swing between the trees to continue toward the Black Temple.
5. Broken Spear — Chapter 9: Night Has Come
Subchapter: 4, Hunted. Objective: Follow the lights to the palace. Entrance landmark: the low ledge on the left just after the creature grabs the fleeing soldier and Sophia enters the next ruined area. The grave is already open, so no Sphere ability or light puzzle is required.
Hint: The creature pulls your attention forward. Ignore that little piece of stagecraft and check the raised path on the left before beginning the next stealth crossing.
- After the creature attack, pass through the doorway into the open ruins.
- Turn left immediately and climb the low ledge beside the doorway.
- Follow the short upper path to the tomb monument and descend its steps.
- Open the tomb without activating a receptacle or aligning any beams.
- Confirm that the pickup panel shows Broken Spear — Sprint Assault.
Technique: Sprint Assault lets a Sprint Attack pierce enemy guards and shields to deal damage. It gives Sophia a direct answer to shield carriers, though she needs enough clear ground for the approach.
Return to the route: Climb back out and drop beside the doorway. Continue through the stealth area toward its upper-left corner. If the creature pins you down, activate the central light or strike a nearby brazier, wait for the danger to move away, and continue.
6. Xiphos — Chapter 10: Parallel Paths
Subchapter: 2, In the Plunderers’ Wake. Objective: Find a way inside the mountain. Entrance landmark: the waterside clearing immediately after the six-turn symbol cave. Find the Thakourth Ball near the water, then cross left to the rock passage beside a Resonance Point. You need the Grapnel and the Sphere’s three-beam function.
Hint: If blue has nowhere to land, smash the clay pots. One jar is hiding the receptor because ancient tomb builders also enjoyed clutter.
- Navigate the symbol cave by taking right at the first four symbols, then left at the fifth and sixth.
- Squeeze through the exit and follow the next clearing around to the water. From the Thakourth Ball side, cross left and collect the Resonance Point beside the rock passage.
- Enter that passage and use the Grapnel to climb the wall on the right.
- At the tomb, smash the clay pots to expose the blue receptor and another Resonance Point.
- Activate the receptacle in front of the statue to turn on the light beams.
- Move to the marked plate in the right-hand corner and face the statue.
- Set green on the middle receptor at the statue, red on the left receptor, and blue on the right receptor that was hidden beneath a pot.
- The axe-marked crypt opens in front of the receptacle. Drop inside and open the tomb.
- Confirm that the pickup panel shows Xiphos — Parry Break.
Technique: Parry Break makes successful parries deal much more stun damage, but Sophia loses the ability to block while the Xiphos is equipped. Practice against one readable enemy before trusting it in a crowd. If the camera turns mutinous, dodge away instead of betting everything on a blind parry.
Return to the route: Climb out, descend the Grapnel wall, and pass back through the rock opening to the water. Turn right in the main clearing and enter the cave behind the reflector to resume the mountain-door light puzzle.
