Achievements, Missables, and Chapter Select
The nastiest completion trap in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy looks harmless: Sophia drops through a one-way gap while a white Resonance glimmer is still behind her. Before every slide, closing gate, or long squeeze-through, sweep the side paths and check your total. Resonance Points are skill points, and they are the one part of completion that Chapter Select—the menu for replaying earlier chapters—cannot neatly stitch back together.
Plan for one careful story run followed by targeted cleanup. One-run completion is possible if you collect and spend 165 Resonance Points, but it is not guaranteed without a tracked route. Like a warrior is the true missable, meaning a shortfall can force a long replay. There are no online or difficulty-based objectives, so choose the setting that keeps Sophia feeling like a sharp plunderer rather than a training dummy surrounded by red attack flashes.
Spoiler-Light Completion Roadmap
- Start tracking Resonance Points in Chapter 2. Chapter 1 has none. Search optional ledges, camps, tomb approaches, and rooms beside the main mechanism. Some completed fights also award points.
- Collect Artefacts, Charms, Theseus’ Echoes, and Blades as you go. These can be cleaned up through Chapter Select, but Charms add passive bonuses and Blades give you more combat choices during the first run.
- Do the quick chapter actions on arrival. Watch the full puppet show in Chapter 2 and greet the turtle in Chapter 3. Both can be replayed later, but each takes less time than another menu trip.
- Spend 165 points across all six Mastery branches. Buy each main skill and both linked sub-skills. Buying only the six square-icon skills does not unlock Like a warrior.
- Finish all 14 chapters. After the ending, use Chapter Select and Restart Checkpoint for missed collectibles and combat objectives. Do not use Chapter Select during an unfinished 165-point run unless you have made a backup.
Platform Differences
- PlayStation 5: 37 trophies—the shared 36 gameplay objectives plus the Platinum, The Sea Scorpion. There is no PS4 version or PS4-to-PS5 auto-pop route.
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC: 36 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore. The title supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
- Steam: 36 achievements with the same gameplay requirements.
- Epic Games Store: 36 achievements worth 1,000 XP, again using the same gameplay requirements.
- All platforms: There is no difficulty or online objective. The Heritage Pack’s Hero’s Blade is not required for Plunderer, Adaptable, or the Platinum.
Story Unlocks
Chapters 1–13 automatically award Blood ties, Felons, Those before us, From hell it rose, Desolation it wrought, What Lies Beneath, Death it sowed, Resonance, Night has come, Parallel paths, Patera, Fading Light, and As One. Completing Chapter 14, What Remains, awards A new beginning for finishing every chapter.
Collectible and Progression Checklist
| Unlock | Requirement | Earliest practical completion |
|---|---|---|
| Hoarder | Collect all 37 Artefacts, called Relics of the Present and Past in the requirement. | Chapter 13, Sub-Chapter 4, One Last Trial. After leaving the Petrified area and squeezing through the gap, turn left into the dead end for Poisoned Syringe. |
| Plunderer | Collect all eight counted base-game Blades. The first two are story rewards; the others come from optional tombs. | Chapter 10, Sub-Chapter 2, In the Plunderers’ Wake. Xiphos is the eighth Blade. The bonus Hero’s Blade is not required. |
| Superstitious | Collect all 30 Charms, including the five Pierced Coins awarded by Theseus’ Echoes. | Chapter 13, Sub-Chapter 5, By Your Side. Trinket 5 is in the chest beside the large light at the top. |
| In the name of my kin | Find all five Theseus’ Echoes by interacting with their Axe Chalices. | Chapter 10, Sub-Chapter 3, Daedalus’ Workshop. Climb onto the hanging mirror, use the grappling point to drop the weight, then enter the opened tomb upstairs. |
| Like a warrior — MISSABLE | Spend 165 Resonance Points to buy all three skills in each of the six Mastery branches. | A tracked route should reach 165 during Chapter 11. Secure the unlock before using Chapter Select. |
The 165-Point One-Playthrough Plan
Resonance Points appear as white glimmers, and some are awarded after fights. Completing the six branches costs 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 points, for 165 total. Open the Artefacts menu and check the counter in the lower-left corner after each chapter.
- End of Chapter 2: target 5.
- End of Chapter 5: target at least 55.
- End of Chapter 7: target at least 95.
- End of Chapter 10: target at least 145.
- During Chapter 11: reach 165 and finish all six branches.
These are conservative route targets, not exact chapter totals. Being one or two points behind still leaves room in the full route. If you are ten or more behind, search the current chapter again before another one-way transition.
A point is not safely recorded until you reach the next checkpoint. If Sophia dies first, collect it again. Chapter Select is not a dependable repair for a run that finishes below 165. Loading an older chapter restores the point and skill state attached to that chapter. A backup may let you load an earlier snapshot and play forward continuously, but jumping ahead again restores the old state saved for that later chapter. Treat that as a last-chance replay, not a guaranteed fix.
What Chapter Select Keeps
| Progress type | Chapter Select behavior |
|---|---|
| Story completion | Preserved. Reached chapters remain available for replay. |
| Artefacts, Blades, Charms, and Theseus’ Echoes | Preserved across cleanup. Chapter Select shows counters for these sets. Once a missed pickup registers, you can return to the menu without finishing the chapter. |
| Combat and action counters | Preserved and farmable through Restart Checkpoint. Restart before killing the final enemy when you want the same setup again. |
| Unlocked trophies or achievements | Permanent once awarded. |
| Resonance Points and purchased skills | Not merged across chapter snapshots. Loading a chapter restores the point and skill state saved for that chapter. Points collected in an older replay do not appear when you jump to a later snapshot. |
Optional and Combat Unlocks
| Unlock | First practical setup and method |
|---|---|
| Theater enthusiast | Chapter 2, Sub-Chapter 2, The Carnival. After the yard with two pigs, go behind the fire-juggler stage and watch the puppet show until it ends. |
| Sea you later! | Chapter 3, Sub-Chapter 1, Paradise. From the opening beach, turn around, follow the shoreline to the turtle, and wait for Sophia’s dialogue to finish. |
| Returning the favor | Chapter 4, Sub-Chapter 4, At the Bottom. In the lever-room ambush, pick up the knife on the floor and throw it at an archer. |
| Cannon fodder | Chapter 5, Sub-Chapter 2, Battle Grounds. Beyond the left scaffold route, weaken a normal soldier to one health segment. Funnel that soldier and the Brute into the house doorway, then dodge aside while the Brute performs several red rage attacks. |
| Inherited brutality | Focus Attacks unlock in Chapter 4. The clean repeatable setup is Chapter 12, Sub-Chapter 1, The Beam. Weaken four enemies, fill the yellow Focus bar, group them, and hit all four with one circular Focus Attack. |
| Untouchable | Chapter 10, Sub-Chapter 1, The Bridge, is the reliable cleanup fight. Parry six attacks in a row without taking damage. If the unlock stalls, use Nightmare difficulty with Invincible Mode and equip the Rusty Sword. |
| Excessive force | Chapter 11, Sub-Chapter 3, Puppets. Use the second Puppet fight after the elevator. Fill Focus, leave a Corrupted enemy’s head intact, wait for its grab, then break free with the Focus Attack. Narrative difficulty can auto-dodge the grab, so switch to Nightmare and enable Invincible Mode if needed. |
| Adaptable | Available after collecting Xiphos in Chapter 10. Kill one enemy with each of the eight required Blades. In Chapter 5’s first Battle Grounds fight, kill one enemy, restart the checkpoint, equip the next Blade outside combat, and repeat. |
| No holds barred | Chapter 5, Sub-Chapter 2, Battle Grounds. Throw the two bottles in the first encounter to stun enemies, restart the checkpoint, and repeat until the total reaches 20. |
| Overboard | Chapter 5, Sub-Chapter 2. In the ruins after the first fight, kick enemies from ledges or into floor spike pits. Pulling archers from high positions does not count. |
| They were people | Chapter 13, Sub-Chapter 3, Surviving Corruption. Aim the room’s mirror at the Petrified, destroy the group with light, and restart the checkpoint until the total reaches 100. |
| Sharp enough for you? | Chapter 5, Sub-Chapter 2, Battle Grounds, is the first dense farming spot. Hold the attack until the blade glows, then make that Critical Strike the killing blow 25 times. |
| Skilled maneuverer | Buy Echo’s Return, then use Chapter 12, Sub-Chapter 1, The Beam. Lure the first cave group together and dodge an incoming attack so the thrown attacker stuns three other enemies at once. |
| Refraction | Light Concentrate unlocks in Chapter 10, Sub-Chapter 5, A Light That Burns. Farm Chapter 13, Sub-Chapter 1, The Labyrinth: stand near safe light, lure the creature close, burn it with the concentrated beam, and repeat ten times. |
| Baitfish | Chapter 13, Sub-Chapter 3, Surviving Corruption. Run close enough to wake the Petrified and keep circling until at least 20 are following at once. |
| Close call | Chapter 6, Sub-Chapter 2, The Creature. During a chase, enter a safe pool of light just before the creature catches Sophia. Repeat five times. |
| Unpredictable | Chapter 7, Sub-Chapter 4, The Arena. While actively chased, jump across usable gaps to break the creature’s trail. Repeat through checkpoint restarts until the counter reaches 25. |
Backup Saves Before the Risky Bits
The game keeps one autosave in each profile and provides six profile slots. Make a backup after Chapter 9, before opening Chapter Select during an unfinished run, before loading an older chapter, and as soon as Like a warrior unlocks.
- Steam: Close the game, then copy
<Steam-folder>\userdata\<Steam-ID>\2713000\remoteto a dated folder. - Xbox app on Windows: Close the game and Xbox app before copying
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\FocusHomeInteractiveSA.APlagueTaleFelons_4hny5m903y3g0\SystemAppData\wgs. - Epic Games Store: Use a second in-game profile unless you have already verified which local folder your installation is updating.
- PS5: With PlayStation Plus, disable automatic sync for this game, close it, and upload the current save before the risky step. Leave automatic sync off until you know the rollback is no longer needed.
- Xbox Series X|S: Cloud saving is synchronization rather than a dependable manual rollback slot. Leave the active 165-point run untouched and use another in-game profile for a fresh route.
