Phonopolis Full Game Walkthrough

Use this Phonopolis walkthrough in layers. First, look for what the cardboard scene is asking you to change: a sound, a route, a machine state, or a person obeying a loudspeaker. The loudspeakers are the Leader's command boxes, and the Absolute Tone is the planned final command that would take away the city's free will. Felix's best tool is not strength. It is noticing which silly little paper machine can be turned against the bigger silly paper machine.

The easy trap is thinking the next click must be large and obvious. Phonopolis loves hiding progress in a tiny changed button, a new vent cover, a floor that now slides, or a worker who moved two steps because the regime's speaker yelled at them. If you get stuck, stop wandering and inspect the last thing that changed. In this city, even a loose sausage tube can be part of the revolution, which is a fine sentence and also useful advice.

Landfill, Underground, and Opera House

  1. At the landfill, keep trying to move Felix away from work. The loudspeaker will keep forcing him back to the crusher. Repeat this until the crusher shifts and Felix falls underground.
  2. Wake Felix, then move carefully to the right through the dark trash path. Click the woman's portrait, reveal the gramophone, press its button, and enter the Old Opera House when it appears.
  3. In the opera house, pull the right curtain rope to reveal the stage, then pull it again to switch the backdrop. Clear the stage by dragging loose rubble away, dropping the crate from high up until it breaks, and cycling the upper-left hanging prop until the sun appears. Pull the sun down, remove the remaining stage pieces, then pull the pyramid piece toward Felix to uncover the headphones.
  4. Pick up the headphones. To leave, keep using the hanging rig until the backdrop tears, then peel the torn paper away and climb the ladder back to the landfill.
  5. Back at the crusher, drag the headphones from Felix's inventory onto him. Click the loudspeaker to make the other workers fill the crusher until the meter reaches the red zone, then use the crusher. It breaks, and the police take Felix away.
  6. In the police vehicle, peel away the loose wrap to expose the control panel. First, use the hose and gear setup to make the vehicle unstable. Next, aim the water so it sprays the driver. For the final break, reveal the hidden speed switch, turn it on, switch from hose to cannon, set the treads so they slope upward to the right, and let the vehicle smash itself apart. Exit left.

Workers' Quarter and the Women's House

  1. Explore the Workers' Quarter, then walk left and back toward the center until Felix receives a paper letter. Enter the round, numbered Women's House with the large 24 sign.
  2. Open the four shutters to show the stairwell. Climb to the top, learn the ladder is missing, then return to the bottom-right balcony area to find it.
  3. When the building puzzle expands, slide the yellow floor to the right, rotate the chimney upward, and press the right base button to send smoke into the upper room. This moves the worker away from the ladder, so grab it quickly.
  4. Slide the third floor right so the woman steps out, then slide it back left so she falls near the worker. To clear the washerwoman, slide the yellow floor right again and press the left base button to spill water. She will keep cleaning, leaving Felix free to climb to the top room.
  5. Inside, inspect the room and speak to the three men. When the police arrive, Felix hides in the piano. Click the objects in the room so the officers damage them, saving the cuckoo clock for last. When they turn toward the fallen clock, slip out through the left door.
  6. In the dream fall, steer Felix into the floating objects until he lands on the planet. Rotate the planet counterclockwise until the singer's face appears and the opera music starts.
  7. On the rooftop sign, remove both screws from the T, rock the O until it drops, untie the N, and peel the tape from the E. Cross the cables. When the police spin the rope, swap between the upper and lower cable to use the motion against them.

Apartment 51, Hallway, and Parade Escape

  1. In the vent, wait for the police search to pass, then crawl into apartment 51. The wall puzzle changes wallpaper and objects. First make the plain wall match the TV wall to reveal one button. Then make the wall fully blue to reveal the blue button.
  2. Build the bathroom layout with the toilet, mirror, sink, and hair-drying chair to reveal the first red button. Build the kitchen layout with the sink, blender, stove, and hood to reveal the second red button.
  3. Use the kitchen command once to loosen the vent cord. Then press the blue button and use the loudspeaker twice so the husband gets bottles, with one left on the TV.
  4. Switch to the bathroom and use the loudspeaker. The wife pours the bottle into the toilet, and the speaker turns blue. Use the blue speaker once so the couple swaps roles. Stay on the blue wall and use the loudspeaker so the wife drinks, then switch back to the kitchen and use the loudspeaker. The cord is yanked out, the vent cover falls, and Felix can leave.
  5. In the hallway, click the loudspeakers from left to right to summon the cleaning woman and move the guards away from the elevator. Take the elevator down.
  6. During the parade chase, open the vehicle's record controls. Use minus with red to lower the megaphone, minus with blue to stop the vehicle, then minus with red again to knock away one officer.
  7. Use plus with blue to speed up, minus with blue to drop the roof officer into the chimney, and plus with blue to fling him off. For the last officer, use minus with yellow to suck him into the speaker, then plus with yellow to eject him.

Workers' District, Jail, and the Wrench

  1. Reach the Workers' District elevator and solve the four beam puzzles by routing each energy beam from its source to the exit with the black movable pieces. If a beam board stalls you, reset your eye: find the source, find the exit, then move only the blockers that touch that path.
  2. Read the poster about Rachel and the Absolute Tone. Meet the three elders in the alley with the trash bins, then go to the bathroom area and use the blue bathroom. The police capture Felix after the toilet gag plays out.
  3. In jail, let Felix fail to reach the cable until he sleeps. In the bird dream, fly upward toward the image of Rachel and the Leader. When Felix wakes, use the bird's help to loosen the cable.
  4. Rotate the prison platforms to make a path to the left lever. Move only when the searchlight is turned away. Pull the lever, then rotate the platforms again to reach the lower stairs and escape.
  5. Tell the elders about Rachel. Return to the bathroom area, rotate the red bathroom until it collapses, and inspect the water pipe. Felix needs a wrench, so read the poster near the entrance, return to the first district, and enter the plumber's house area.
  6. For the six-house puzzle, use the spinning center house as the pattern and match the surrounding houses to its shapes and textures. When the pattern is accepted, climb to the plumber's middle house.
  7. Inside the plumber's house, rotate to the back and press the red button to view the sleeping plumber. Close the chimney until the attic opens, then plug the tube into the blue hole to fill the house with smoke.
  8. Drag the junk out of the middle until the crank appears. Open the ground-floor side panel and use the faucet to restore the house. Pull the yellow pants from the neighbor's window so she slips near the faucet.
  9. On the front, use the red disk to align the pin with the plumber. Rotate to the back, press the button, and pull the crank so the plumber is hooked. Rotate the building to trap the firefighters in their own net.
  10. Rotate the two house halves until the red pipes connect. Align the pin with the pipe, pull the red plug, and take the wrench. Return to the collapsed red bathroom, shut off the water, and enter the pipe.

Construction Site, Bathhouse, and Bureau

  1. At the construction site, connect the bowl object to the engine, then connect the engine to the drill. Use the drill on the small electrical box on the right.
  2. Connect the bowl to the electrical box to light it. Move the drill left and remove the screws from the upper pipe to release air pressure.
  3. Place the burning bowl near the air-pressure device, then put the wooden box beside it so it burns into a platform. Lower the air device, move the new platform onto it, inflate it, and climb to the next pipe.
  4. In the bathhouse, adjust the organ pipes until the musical sequence makes the large bather blow the clothing loose. Repeat the accepted tone changes until the outfit lands near Felix's pipe, then take it.
  5. In the dream, drag the wind to pull Rachel closer, then follow her left and up the spiral stairs. After Felix wakes, go to the Phonnobureau in the Bureaucratic Quarter for a pass.
  6. In the portal-camera sequence, use the three door buttons to open and close barriers so Felix can reach the Byro sign.
  7. At the bureau, use the camera for Felix's photo. Press the red loudspeaker to add the photo to the file, then press it again to send the file to the grey worker.
  8. Rotate the office boxes so the grey worker is above the blue worker, then use the grey loudspeaker to free the blue worker's stuck tie. Move the file to the blue worker and align him with the water pipe, then use the blue loudspeaker so the stapler breaks the pipe.
  9. Rotate the blue worker above the yellow worker so the water wets the yellow worker's tongue. Now process the file in order: red, grey, blue, yellow. Take the completed pass.

Canteen, Light Bulb, and Avant-Garde Elevator

  1. Insert the pass at the Avant-Garde entrance. The projector bulb breaks, so leave and enter the yellow canteen across the way.
  2. Take food from the serving machine, go upstairs, and sit at the table below the porthole window. Finish the meal so the cleaning cart comes over, then climb it to reach the food machine room.
  3. On the food machine, open the sausage panel and the sauce tube together. Stick the sausage into the sauce tube. This will pop the bulb loose, but it will shatter unless you cushion it.
  4. Open the question-mark panel to find the pudding recipe. Rotate to the snowflake drawer, use a corkscrew to remove the fish, open the milk, pour it into the empty drawer, and freeze it.
  5. Carry the frozen milk block to the pudding mold. Add the pudding mix, then rotate the lower layer to the flame panel and cook it.
  6. Set the oven mitt on the top-left position, put the pudding in the middle, and place sauce on the plate below. Trigger the bulb, then use the mitt so it tosses the bulb. The pudding bounces it, and the sauce plate catches it. Return to the canteen side and pick up the bulb from the serving machine.
  7. Replace the broken projector bulb at the Avant-Garde elevator. Solve the four beam boards by routing each beam cleanly to its exit, then ride the elevator up.

Leader's Tower and Ending

  1. At the Avant-Garde Quarter, connect the black car's exhaust to the left pipes. Pull out the hidden red car on the right and connect it too. Open the garage for the yellow car, drag it from the bottom so it fits, and connect the final exhaust.
  2. Use the new controls to make a smoke cloud. Press the two cloud buttons in rhythm, crank the cloud over the generator, pull the top control until it becomes charged, then crank it back over the tower rod. The lightning opens the way inside.
  3. For the stair platform room, pull the second rope on the left. Put the rod into the lowest platform. Pull the second left rope two more times, then pull the first rope on the right. Climb the stairs.
  4. In the vent near Rachel's cage, arrange the yellow melody pieces so the gas plays a tune through them. When the tune wakes Rachel, the Leader interrupts and drags her away.
  5. On the stage, satisfy the audience groups by matching their look. Start with all performers in yellow. For the red crowd, make the ground performers horn players and flip the suspended flautist so her dress turns red, then match everyone red.
  6. For the orange-and-white striped crowd, use the suspended performer with the grey outfit and ruff, flip her with the horn setup, then return Felix and the two ground performers to drum roles. For the grey crowd, flip the suspended yellow performer and match the rest grey.
  7. In the final Absolute Tone machine, the beam rule changes. Do not route beams to exits. Make the distinct beams collide with each other to cancel Rachel's melodies and damage the machine. Complete all five beam boards, then watch the final scenes. There are no more puzzles after the machine breaks.

Tip: whenever Phonopolis seems to stop responding, look for a new button, a loose flap, or a character who moved because of a loudspeaker order. The game often hides the next step in the aftermath of the last joke.
