Hard-to-Spot Items and Interactions

Phonopolis loves to hide the next step in plain sight, usually as a loose paper edge, a tiny screw, or a button that only appears after the city has finished its little cardboard performance. If you have ever stared at one of these scenes while Felix stands there like a polite dustman waiting for orders, that is the pattern: the important part often looks like scenery until you poke it.

Use this section as a light spoiler scanner first. A hotspot is any clickable, draggable, or peelable part of the scene. Before using the exact steps, sweep the scene from left to right, click the loudspeakers, tug any torn paper edge, and watch for new buttons after a character moves. The fun of Phonopolis is outwitting the Leader's absurd machines, so let the diorama show you what changed before you force the solution.

Early Game: Landfill and Old Opera House

Nudge: In the opening landfill, progress comes from disobeying badly. Try to walk away from work more than once, even when the loudspeaker keeps dragging Felix back to the crusher.

Exact steps: Keep clicking away from the crusher until the loudspeaker forces Felix to operate it. After he falls underground, click Felix to wake him, move right, inspect the woman's portrait, and use the gramophone. In the Old Opera House, pull the right-side rope to open the curtain. Clear the stage pieces, drop the crate several times until it breaks, pull the left rope until the sun appears, then drop the sun before dragging the pyramid toward the front of the stage. Collect the headphones after the pyramid breaks.

Easy miss: The exit from the Old Opera House is not a door. Keep tearing the loose poster or background paper on the left side until a hidden staircase is revealed. This is classic Phonopolis: the wall was only pretending to be a wall.

Crusher and Police Vehicle

Nudge: The headphones are not just an item Felix carries. They are the first real crack in the regime's sound system.

Exact steps: Back at the crusher, drag the headphones from the top-right inventory area onto Felix. Now click the loudspeaker to make the other workers keep filling the crusher. When the gauge reaches the red zone, click the crusher itself to overload it.

Easy miss: In the police vehicle, the controls are hidden under a peelable sticker or wrap. Pull the loose edge on the vehicle to reveal the control diagram. Later, when the panel is damaged, tear off the small red sticker near the bottom to reveal an extra hidden button. Use that new button before the final vehicle setup.

Workers' District and Women's House

Nudge: The Workers' District is a walking scene, not just a path. The invitation appears only after you have bothered the right bit of city machinery.

Exact steps: Walk left through the district and interact with the loudspeaker above the hanging painter. Then backtrack until the paper airplane arrives. Read the invitation, then head to the Women's House, the large building with the number 24 in the background.

Easy miss: In the Women's House, open all four shutters first. Climb as high as you can so Felix notices the missing stair or ladder piece. On the way down, the mop woman appears and new building controls pop into play. The piece you need is beside the worker on the ground floor, near the staircase. Move the floors and chimney so smoke reaches the upper woman; when the worker runs off to help, click the stair or ladder piece quickly before he returns.

Apartment, Dream Fall, and Clothesline

Nudge: The apartment scene asks you to make the room look empty by making it noisy first. The officers are not subtle, which is useful for once.

Exact steps: In the apartment, inspect the portraits until the old man appears, then interact with the room objects. When hiding from the officers, use the chandelier, piano, drawer, accessory, and clock. When the clock starts to fall, click it again so the scene can move on.

Easy miss: During the falling sequence, do not just wait. Move Felix into the floating objects, then rotate the small planet until the woman's face appears in the center. On the rooftop clothesline, each letter has its own small trick: remove both screws from T, wiggle O back and forth, untie N, and peel the bandage from E.

Midgame Recovery Checks

If you are stuck after the apartment sequence, check for loudspeakers that changed role. In Apartment 51, matching the wall patterns makes new buttons appear, and later a blue loudspeaker can appear inside a red wall setup. In the corridor, a high loudspeaker near the top of the scene can move guards around the corner. In the Bureaucrats' District, the alley to the right of the propaganda building is easy to walk past; look for trash bins near the man carrying papers.

For the bathroom route, click the red stall more than once until it collapses. If you cannot shut the water off, leave and inspect the poster near the entrance; it points you back toward the worker with the wrench. In the plumber's house, rotate the building to find the red button on the back, close the roof chimney until the attic opens, fit the pipe into the blue hole, pull debris outward until a handle appears, and do not miss the yellow pants at the neighbor's window.

Late-Game Small Parts That Hide Progress

At the construction site, the drill is not only for the obvious machine parts. Move it to the left and use it on the bolts above the pipe to release air from the pump. Burn the wooden box with the heated bowl to make a platform, then use the air blower to raise that platform into reach.

In the restaurant, wait your turn at the vending machine, take food, go upstairs, and sit at the last table under the round window. After Felix eats, the cleaning cart becomes the platform you need. In the food machine, the poster telling you what not to do is the real clue. Jam the sausage in the sauce tube, then use the question-mark panel to find the pudding recipe so the light bulb can land safely instead of smashing.

Near the upper city gate, look for one car that is partly hidden on the right and another tucked inside a block. Remove the flap from the upper-right block and pull the hidden car out from the bottom, not the top. If a new button or lever has appeared and nothing happens, reset your scan: watch which object changed, then click the newest control first. Phonopolis usually rewards the last piece of stagecraft it revealed.
