Little My Snowball Fights and Great Shot Targets
Snowball cleanup is where Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth starts acting like Little My hid your checklist in a snowdrift. The same small throw can knock down icicles, make a bird drop an item, start a bit of character dialogue, or count toward a snowball achievement. Keep those jobs separate: birds and tree drops are item checks, while characters and character groups are Great Shot checks.
You unlock snowballs after Too-ticky brings you to the Bathing-House. Search the wardrobe for the mittens, chase the Ancestor when it runs off with them, pick the mittens up after they drop, then return to Too-ticky and practice on the icicles. Mittens let Moomintroll make and throw normal snowballs. Later, reinforced mittens let him roll large snowballs for bridges, platforms, pond routes, and snow fort puzzles. Get the sturdy yarn from the Hemulen route, bring it to Too-ticky, and come back if a big snowball will not move.
Win the First Little My Fight for the Shovel
The first real snowball fight starts after the route toward Fillyjonk is blocked and Moomintroll needs Moominmamma's shovel. Head back toward Moominmamma's garden near Moominhouse and meet Little My. She has the shovel, because of course she does, and she will hand it over only after you beat her.
- Stay near the snowmen instead of chasing Little My around the whole arena.
- Use the snowmen as cover, but step out before throwing so your snowball has a clean lane.
- If Little My hides too long, break the snowman she is using.
- Wait until she steps into open snow or starts to run away.
- Aim a little ahead of her path, throw one snowball, then move again.
- Repeat that calm throw-and-move rhythm until the fight ends.
If you keep missing, stop turning the fight into a tiny winter footrace. Reset behind a snowman, let Little My cross the open space, and throw only when the line is clear. After you win, pick up Moominmamma's shovel. The shovel clears deep snow piles, opens the route to Fillyjonk, and starts turning winter from a wall into a map you can actually read.
Later Little My and Pond Fights
Little My returns later around the Pond and slide routes. These rounds are still playful, not hard combat, but the space is wider and the ice makes rushed angles feel worse. Stand near snowball sources and open crossing lanes. Avoid corners and slide exits where Moomintroll has to turn before every throw.
The pond rematches can take more hits than the shovel fight, so play them like a small patience test. Throw once, move, wait, throw again. If the route around the Pond asks you to push a large snowball, you need reinforced mittens first. If normal snowballs work but the big one will not roll, leave it, get sturdy yarn, ask Too-ticky to reinforce the mittens, then return.
Great Shot Character Checklist
Great Shot is the snowball achievement for hitting every valid character or character group. A valid character means someone the game lets Moomintroll hit during a normal throw window. The game does not give you a neat little winter clipboard, so throw once as soon as each character is reachable.
- Too-ticky: hit her after you unlock snowballs or during any Bathing-House upgrade visit.
- Ancestor: hit the Ancestor during a Bathing-House, Moominhouse, or party moment when you have a clear throw.
- Squirrel: use the late window after the Great Winter Bonfire, when you go to meet Too-ticky and see the Squirrel through the gap. Throw before continuing. If an earlier normal throw window appears, take it too, but do not skip the late check.
- Little My: the shovel fight and later pond rematches are your cleanest chances.
- Fillyjonk: throw at her when you reach Fillyjonk's house or during the Moominhouse guest route.
- Fillyjonk's children: hit each of the three children when they are reachable, especially during the rescue and house guest steps.
- Misabel: hit her during the Moominhouse guest chain or when she is outside and reachable.
- Hemulen: hit him on the mountain route or during the reinforced-mittens and late Hemulen chores.
- Joxter: hit him at camp before his route moves on. This is one of the easiest targets to forget.
- Musician or lunchbox-route guest: if the game gives you a clear character throw during the lunchbox route, take it. Do not confuse this with the bird holding the lunchbox.
- Sorry-oo: throw at Sorry-oo after the forest rescue or while moving through the wind route.
- Shadow: hit Shadow during the cave or late outside route when you have a normal throw angle.
- Winter beings: hit each unique winter being you can interact with, including the Bonfire Site, mountain, Pond, forest, cave, and side-route beings. Some targets are group-like, so treating every unique winter being as a check is the safer route.
- Mouse family: hit the mother mouse near the cave entrance, then hit all three mouse children inside the cave before you finish the mother mouse hand-in. Even if one child seems to count, tag all three to be safe.
- Great Winter Bonfire party characters: use the party as a final sweep. Throw at the Ancestor and any gathered character you have not already checked.
Bird and Item-Hit Checklist
Birds are not the same as Great Shot character targets. They are item checks. Hit the bird, watch where the item drops, and pick it up before leaving the area.
- Bathing-House lunchbox route: hit the bird or crow on the lunchbox, then return the lunchbox and continue the route toward the axe.
- Mountain silver tray chase: hit the bird on the detour while following Little My to drop a vase piece.
- Pond snowball fight arena: check the southwest side of the arena and hit the bird there for a vase piece.
- Forest rope route: after going down the rope and shoveling open the path, hit the bird for a vase piece.
- Forest near the third Fillyjonk child: hit the bird to get the diary item. The diary is later used for a winter being reward, not Great Shot.
- Late Hemulen or party cleanup: hit the top of the nearby tree with a snowball to drop the horn if it is stuck above you. This is an item drop, not a bird or character target.
Before you leave: finish normal snowball, bird, winter being, letter, and vase cleanup before treating the Great Winter Bonfire as your final push. The party gives you a useful last sweep for some character targets, but it is much calmer to arrive there with your checklist already mostly clean.
