Great Winter Bonfire Requirements and Final Cleanup
This is the point in Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth where the valley starts to feel like someone shook a snow globe full of chores. You can see the Great Winter Bonfire waiting, but half the useful paths are still hiding behind snow piles, dead trees, stronger ice, or one of Little My's tiny acts of civic disorder. Do not panic-clear the map yet. The bonfire is a late-game checklist, not a race the moment it appears.
The Great Winter Bonfire objective begins at the old bonfire site east of Moominhouse, after Too-ticky sends Moomintroll there from the Bathing-House part of the story. This is the big winter gathering point, and it needs four tracked things before it is ready: 125 firewood, five guests, one musician, and three winter being tasks. Winter beings are the small winter folk around Moominvalley who need help with cold, dark, food, fear, or being stuck.
Bonfire Requirement Checklist
- 125 firewood: Collect wood from loose pickups, shoveled snow piles, snowball-hit mounds, chopped trees, caves, side paths, and quest rewards. Firewood is not just lying on the ground looking helpful.
- Five guests: Move the main character routes forward until the guest counter updates. Fillyjonk and her children, Misabel, Little My, Hemulen's musician route, and Too-ticky follow-ups all matter here. If someone seems ready but the counter does not move, talk to them again after their problem is solved.
- One musician: Follow the music route until the lunchbox problem is solved. When the bird/lunchbox trail points you toward the Bathing-House side of the map, recover the lunchbox, then continue the musician chain until the axe route opens.
- Three winter being tasks: Help three qualifying winter beings and speak to them again if the task does not check off right away. Cold usually wants warmth, dark wants light, hunger wants a nearby item, and trapped usually wants a later tool.
Best Time To Do Final Cleanup
The cleanest time to sweep Moominvalley is after you have the shovel, axe, sharp axe, upgraded shovel, and the key guest routes open. The shovel lets you clear deep snow near Fillyjonk's house, Moominhouse, and early forest paths. The axe is your big firewood jump because it opens dead tree routes around the Bathing-House, forest, and bonfire approach. The sharp axe breaks stronger ice and opens late cave routes. The upgraded shovel helps with the stubborn late snow piles that make the valley pretend it has no more secrets. Rude, but very Moominvalley.
If you are stuck short of 125 firewood, route by tool instead of wandering in circles. First, sweep loose wood near Moominhouse, the Bathing-House paths, the old bonfire site, and early side trails. Next, shovel every suspicious snow pile near Fillyjonk's house, the garden paths, and forest returns. After the axe, revisit dead trees, blocked log paths, and the Bathing-House cleanup. After the sharp axe, check the herb cave, cave exits, stronger ice paths, and any route you skipped because it looked too late or too dark. If you are sitting around 80 to 100 firewood, you almost always still have axe, sharp axe, cave, or quest reward cleanup left.
Guest And Winter Being Recovery
If the bonfire still will not light after you have enough wood, do not assume the game forgot you. Check the objective lines. A guest route may need one more conversation after the problem is solved. Little My's first snowball fight gets you the shovel; her later pond route matters for bonfire progress. The musician is not done until the lunchbox chain is handled. For winter beings, finish the action, then speak to the being again so the task actually lands.
Before You Light The Great Winter Bonfire
Pause before lighting it if you care about 100% completion. The Great Winter Bonfire moves the story from preparation into the party and ending stretch, so this is your best calm checkpoint. Before you commit, collect all 25 vase pieces, repair Moominmamma's vase, finish every tool upgrade with Too-ticky, help extra winter beings for full completion, light the two small bonfires and all cave candles, check letters and note chains, and throw snowballs at every valid character for the snowball achievement path. This is your quiet moment to make winter understandable instead of hostile, one little checklist at a time.
