Drip Creature Farming and Fishipedia Cleanup

Optional cleanup: This hunt is not required to finish How to Fish. It is for the Fishipedia achievement, collection completion, and anyone who believes a fish looks better in an outfit loud enough to damage radar.

You know the scene: Tab shows one missing Drip, the water is full of released Tigerfish, and the crew has spent twenty minutes working the wrong pool. Fix the pool first. A Drip creature is a rare form of a normal catch. It has an unusual alternate look and rainbow-colored text in its name or catch banner. It uses the same rod and bait pool as its normal form. Dripper, confusingly, is also a regular species name; only a rainbow-named Drip Dripper fills its Drip record.

Version check: This checklist covers the Windows version through Patch 1.0.12, Steam build 25127368, checked September 15, 2026. Ordinary Drip results are chance-driven. A correct setup can still produce a long dry streak, and no route guarantees a variant within a set number of casts.

Check What You Are Actually Missing

1. Press Tab to open the creature encyclopedia.
2. Compare the normal and Drip records. Collector checks normal kill records, while Fishipedia checks Drip records.
3. Write down missing ordinary creatures by bait. Put missing bosses and minibosses on a separate island list.
4. Skip completed pools. Do not burn another Professional Lure because one forgotten Goby is hiding in the Beginner Lure group.

The Patch 1.0.12 journal tracks 49 creatures: 38 ordinary catches and 11 bosses or minibosses. The 38 ordinary creatures need actual rainbow-named Drip kills. Bosses and minibosses fill their normal and Drip records when they die, so you do not need a separate rainbow Spider Crab or Albatross.

Optional bonus: Bing Bong can also appear in a red Drip form, but Bing Bong sits outside the 49-entry journal in this build. Its Desert Island Coconut route is not required for Fishipedia.

Ordinary Drip Pools by Route Stop and Bait

The route stop shows where that equipment enters normal progression. Ordinary catch selection follows the equipped rod and bait rather than being locked to that island, so you can work these pools from one clear shore after buying the gear.

Use the narrowest useful pool when a creature has more than one option. Fish for Pike with the free French Fry default and use Standard Lure for Seahorse. Cod belongs in the Beginner Lure pool; leaving the Fishing Rod without purchased bait equips its French Fry default and does not create a usable Cod-only pool.

Boss and Miniboss Journal Credit

Kill each missing encounter once. That death fills both journal records; there is no separate random Drip hunt for these 11 creatures.

Fast Catch, Check, and Release Routine

1. Prepare the shore. Keep one dependable weapon ready and leave an inventory slot open. A rare catch deserves better than becoming part of a physics-based yard sale.
2. Equip one pool. Check the rod and active bait before starting. If your bait supply runs out, the game can switch the active bait, so check again when the catches suddenly change.
3. Keep the hook working. Ham and Hot Dog can attract catches while sitting still. French Fry and the regular tiered lures need movement, so reel them through the water.
4. Read the catch banner. If the name is plain and its normal record is already filled, hold right-click with the default mouse controls to release the line before hauling the creature onto your work area. Resume the same cast when the hook remains usable.
5. Stop for rainbow text. Land a missing ordinary Drip on clear ground and kill it. Seeing it, hooking it, or releasing it alive does not award collection credit.
6. Confirm the death. Wait for the creature to die, press Tab, and check the exact Drip record. Once the record fills, you do not need to keep the body; sell it, cook it, or spend it at the Reel of Fortune.

Solo: Use shallow water with a clean route onto land. Released hostile fish can stay nearby, so clear the area before the beach forms its own firing squad. Co-op: Have one fisher call out rainbow names while another player controls loose threats. After a kill, each player should check their own Tab menu before anyone spends the body.

Low-Waste Cleanup Order

1. Finish the main island route first. This records the required bosses and opens the equipment needed for every ordinary pool.
2. Make one island sweep for any missing minibosses. Use their dedicated boss lures instead of hoping they appear in a mixed ordinary pool.
3. Move to one clear shore and finish the free Ham and French Fry defaults.
4. Group the remaining ordinary names under Beginner, Standard, Professional, and Scientific Lures. Skip any group with no blanks.
5. Use Standard Lure before Professional if Seahorse is missing. Save Professional for Rocks species such as Voxelfish and Dripper.
6. Run Scientific Lure only for missing Volcano species. There is no prize for feeding expensive bait to a completed row.
7. Chase Drip Bing Bong with a Coconut only if you want the optional variant after the 49 journal records are complete.

If a target refuses to appear, catch one normal member of the same pool and recheck the active bait. A correct normal catch shows that the pool is working; it does not mean the next catch will be Drip. If the pool produces the wrong group, inspect the rod and bait before buying more supplies.

Patch and Cooking Callouts

Patch 1.0.5: An older tracking bug made the all-Drip achievement wait for one extra Drip after the list was complete. That bug was fixed. On Patch 1.0.12, follow the visible Tab records instead of hunting a secret extra entry.

Patch 1.0.11: Drip Parrotfish previously failed to cook correctly. That cooking bug was fixed. Confirm its Fishipedia kill before putting the body on the grill; death records the collection entry, while cooking changes what you can do with the body afterward.

Tip: In Patch 1.0.12, an accidentally cooked weapon or tool can be cleaned by dipping it in water, a feature added in Patch 1.0.10. The fish may have drip, but your rifle does not need seasoning.
