Where to Find Rainbow Jellyfish and Improve Your Odds
You can chase every neon flicker in Shelldiver and still return with a submarine full of ordinary jellyfish. Before starting a focused hunt, buy upgrades to raise your Prestige and open deeper areas. Prestige is a progress rank earned through upgrade purchases; it unlocks new areas instead of resetting your build.
Where to Search
Choose the deepest biome and depth that you can sweep without crawling back on an empty oxygen tank. Deeper dives improve your chance of meeting a Rainbow Jellyfish, but no expedition guarantees one. Do not wait for a supposed fixed coordinate. Check the jellyfish around the submarine, sweep the connected chambers in one direction, and launch another dive if the rainbow refuses to clock in for turtle business.
How to Recognize and Capture One
Look for the jellyfish with several bright colors on its body instead of the usual single-color look. Use that multicolored body as your cue; a color-shifting animation is not required to identify it.
Capture it with the bubble gun, which is Shelldiver's jellyfish-catching weapon. Keep shooting until the capture completes. The laser blaster is for breaking down salvage such as trash, crystals, and mushrooms, so switching to it will not help with the catch.
Repeatable Search Loop
- Raise Prestige and open deeper areas. Buy useful upgrades instead of saving for an unproven Prestige 9 gate.
- Select your deepest safe dive. Drop back one depth if your oxygen runs out before you can search and return comfortably.
- Scan near the submarine. Check every visible jellyfish before swimming into the outer chambers.
- Sweep once in one direction. Avoid crossing the same tunnels repeatedly unless you missed a jellyfish.
- Reload before a long chase. The bottom-right bubble-gun display shows the shots currently loaded, while the bottom-left bubble display shows your remaining clips. A clip is one batch of shots, and you can reload before it is empty.
- Bank the haul and dive again. Keep a comfortable oxygen buffer for the return instead of gambling the whole run on one more chamber.

Read the effect written on each node instead of relying on its position in the star-shaped tree. Upgrade names can be easy to mix up, but phrases such as jellyfish appearance rate, oxygen, movement speed, and bubble damage point directly to the parts of the hunt you want to improve.
