Ancient Vault Puzzle Solutions: Water, Fire, and Sensor Rooms
Build label: Early Access v0.5.7. These directions cover only the four room layouts named below. Vault locations vary with the world, so match the room landmarks instead of hunting for fixed coordinates.
You know the scene: one Water blob slips into a blue portal, two cables stay red, and the vault starts judging your whole factory career. It is not unbeatable. These rooms follow the same physical rules as your factory: Water flows downhill, heat ignites burnable material, Snow freezes Water, and a green sensor must be completely filled. Change one route at a time and let every loose pixel settle before pressing another button.
Tools, Upgrades, and Room Limits
| Room | Required | Optional | Permitted building or action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three-cable Water maze | Foundation | None | Build only on the yellow squares. No wiring is needed. |
| Rocket and orange-material room | Rocket Launcher: Tier 4 Research, 2,000 Gold | Incendiary Warhead | Fire through the marked angled lane. Do not add loose material. |
| Moonhop sensor room | Gun: Tier 3 Research, 1,500 Gold | Rapid Fire or Triple Burst | Shoot the Mooncrystal from the permitted firing area. No wiring or imported material is needed. |
| Lava, fuse, Snow, and Water room | Foundation | None | Build on the marked yellow row. The room supplies the Lava, Snow, and Water. |
If the required weapon is disabled or a yellow square refuses Foundation, leave the room intact and return after checking your Research and game version. Some ancient mechanisms are tool gates wearing puzzle-shaped hats.
Three-Cable Yellow-Tile Water Maze
Spoiler-light hint: Treat the three green receivers as separate deliveries. Fill one, rebuild the yellow-tile route, and send the next Water release elsewhere.
Untouched starting state: Water is held above the maze, three receiver cables are red, yellow squares mark the build field, and blue spiral portals recycle missed Water. Use Foundation only.

[G] = receiver that must remain full
All three cable lines green -> left door opens -> ArtifactFull Solution
- Find the three green receivers before building: upper-right, lower-left, and bottom. Trace each receiver's cable to the three indicators beside the Artifact chamber.
- Start with the upper-right receiver. Use Foundation on the yellow squares to make a catch wall beneath the Water drop, block the nearby blue portal route, and leave the upper-right side as the only downhill exit.
- Press the release button once. Let the Water stop moving. Continue only when the upper-right receiver is full and its cable is green.
- Leave that filled receiver alone. Rebuild the middle of the Foundation route so the next release falls toward the lower-left receiver. Close any branch that leads into a blue spiral, then press the button and wait for the second green cable.
- For the bottom receiver, rebuild the lower part of the field as a funnel: close the left and right exits and leave the gap directly above the bottom pocket. Release Water and let it settle.
- Completion signal: all three cable indicators remain green and the door on the left retracts. Enter the opened chamber and collect the purple Artifact.
Symptom and fix: If Water enters a blue spiral, reshape only the last branch and release it again; the portal is the room's recycle path. If the room has lost enough Water that a receiver cannot fill, restore a save from before the first release. Do not introduce Snow or thermal machinery—the maze already has enough opinions.
Rocket Room: Ignite the Orange Material
Spoiler-light hint: The Rocket drawing shows a firing lane. Hit the solid end of that lane so the explosion drops fire onto the orange support below.
Untouched starting state: A large Snow mass rests on an orange burnable strip above a Water basin. A sloped firing lane ends at a solid wall. Bring the Rocket Launcher. Incendiary Warhead makes the fire spread wider, but a normal Rocket can complete this room.

cross left to the Artifact chamberFull Solution
- Stand at the open right end of the angled lane. Aim along the lane toward its solid upper-left end.
- Fire a Rocket into that end wall. Watch the explosion instead of firing a volley; the useful part is the fire that falls from the impact.
- If no fire touches the orange strip, move the impact point slightly along the same wall and fire again. Incendiary Warhead gives you a wider shower, but it is not required.
- Once the orange material catches, stop shooting and let it burn through. The Snow loses its support and drops down the chute.
- The Snow reaches the Water and turns it into Ice. Wait until the material stops moving.
- Completion signal: the orange support is gone and a continuous Ice crossing spans the Water. Cross to the chamber on the left and collect the purple Artifact.
Symptom and fix: Do not spray extra Snow into the room or add Lava. Snow touching Lava forms Scoria, while normal material handling and mining may be blocked here. If Scoria or excess Steam has sealed the route, restore a pre-puzzle save; this layout has no dependable reset for every altered state.
Moonhop Sensor Room
Spoiler-light hint: The blue Moonhop trapped in the tough Mooncrystal is the sensor fill. Use the Gun, then watch the lower bins rather than your firing speed.
Untouched starting state: Mooncrystal holds the Moonhop above a bank of 12 empty green sensors arranged in three rows of four. The Gun is permitted. Foundation, wiring, and imported material are not needed.

12 full sensors at the same time
v
final gates -> ArtifactFull Solution
- Count all 12 sensors before firing. Each green square is a separate bin, and every bin must be completely filled.
- Aim the Gun at the Mooncrystal surrounding the blue Moonhop. Mooncrystal is tough, so several hits are normal even with the basic Gun.
- Shoot in controlled bursts. Stop whenever Moonhop is falling and let the ramps distribute it into the sensor bank.
- Inspect the three rows. A sensor with an empty corner remains inactive, even if it looks almost full from a distance.
- Fire again only where more Moonhop can fall toward an incomplete part of the bank. Rapid Fire and Triple Burst shorten the digging, but neither changes the solution.
- Completion signal: all 12 sensors remain green together and the final gates retract. Enter the small chamber on the right and collect the purple Artifact.
Symptom and fix: If a cable stays red, stop firing and let every bouncing grain settle. If all available Moonhop has been released but one sensor still cannot fill, restore the untouched room rather than scattering the remaining grains with more tools.
Lava, Fuse, Snow, and Water-Crossing Room
Spoiler-light hint: Follow the portals. The Lava drops into the upper green portal, exits from the lower blue portal, and needs a Foundation wall to turn it toward the orange fuse.
Untouched starting state: Lava waits in the upper hopper, a button opens its gate, a green portal sits below the hopper, and its blue exit is below-left of the Snow chamber. A row of yellow build squares leads toward the orange fuse supporting the Snow. Water blocks the route to the Artifact.

cross right to the ArtifactFull Solution
- Do not press the button yet. Find the lower blue portal and the horizontal row of yellow squares above it.
- Cover the marked yellow row with Foundation, making one continuous wall or deflector that leads right toward the start of the orange fuse. Do not leave a gap above the portal.
- Press the button once. Lava falls from the hopper into the upper green portal and reappears at the lower blue portal.
- Watch the emerging Lava hit the Foundation route and move right onto the orange strip. If it escapes through a gap, repair that gap before releasing more.
- The orange fuse burns toward the support beneath the Snow. Wait for the support to disappear, then let the Snow fall down the ramp into the Water.
- Completion signal: the Snow drops and a continuous Ice route forms across the basin. Cross the new route to the chamber on the right and collect the purple Artifact.
Symptom and fix: If the gate opens but no Lava reaches the lower portal, save, reload, and test the untouched route once. If the Lava supply is still missing, restore a pre-puzzle save. Do not compensate with imported heat or cold; ancient plumbing becomes ordinary plumbing surprisingly fast.
