How to Beat the Shrine Guardian and Get Endu

If the Shrine Guardian keeps swinging while your sword barely scratches it, check the yellow Power Meter. Rapid attacks with an empty bar turn this fight into a very long argument with a skeleton. In Queen's Domain, that meter affects your attack strength. Give it time to recover, then make each opening count.

Prepare and return to Endu Shrine

  • Save the key pickup: Return to the first Crystal Monument, your save and rest point, with the Endu Shrine Gate Key. Save so a failed attempt does not cost you the Crypt trip.
  • Restore health: Rest if needed. Resting heals you and respawns enemies; saving is a separate action.
  • Ready healing: Put healing items in your quick slots before entering the shrine.
  • Let throwing charges refill: Equip the Dagger Belt and wait for its throwing daggers to recover.
  • Choose your melee weapon: The Wooden Club from the Crypt is a practical option for its Impact damage, the blunt damage type. It is not required. If you prefer the Rusted Spear, its secondary attack combines a thrust with backward movement.

From the first Crystal Monument, retrace the coastal path toward the two offshore rocks where you collected the Dagger Belt. Continue along the coast beyond those islands to the fenced shrine, with a knight outside its gate. Use the Endu Shrine Gate Key to open the entrance.

Beat the Shrine Guardian with space to spare

You do not have Wind Dash yet. That aerial movement ability comes from Endu after this fight. Use ordinary movement, clear retreat space and your current weapons to handle the Guardian.

  1. Leave open ground behind you. Stay outside the Guardian's sword reach and watch it begin an attack. Avoid backing yourself against the shrine boundary.
  2. Clear the swing before moving in. When the sword rises overhead, retreat farther than you would for its other swings. This strike reaches forward enough to catch a short backward step.
  3. Hit during recovery. After the attack finishes, step in for one deliberate melee hit if your Power Meter has recovered. If you are still too far away or low on power, let that opening pass.
  4. Withdraw and rebuild. Move back out of reach while the meter refills. Throw daggers when charges are ready and you have room. Stop running when you want your Power Meter to recover.

Holding the primary melee attack charges a stronger strike. That is separate from letting power recover, and holding a charge prevents running and throwing until you release it. Do not hold one while trying to escape or use a dagger. If another attempt goes wrong, load your monument save with the key secured. On the retry, focus first on giving the overhead strike more room.

Speak to the Guardian, then collect Endu

  1. Interact with the defeated Guardian. Speak to it to receive the Stone Duck Figurine, which unlocks access to Umbada's Trading Outpost through a Crystal Monument.
  2. Continue beyond the Guardian into the shrine. Collect Holy Sword Endu and equip it. Defeating the boss alone does not collect the sword.
  3. Check below the Power Meter. The new diamond shows your first Wind Dash charge. You start with one available dash charge.

On the default PC layout, press Ctrl to Wind Dash in the direction you are looking, including through the air. On a controller or another layout, check your configured Wind Dash control. Practice on safe ground before aiming across a gap. The ability remains available when you select another melee weapon. Those tempting ledges now have a new answer—just remember that you have one dash charge, not unlimited flight.
