When to Gather or Enchant for More Reputation

In Flamecraft, a full bag can feel like a fine turn—until the Enchantment row asks for the one Good you skipped. Before choosing a shop, read the cost icons on a face-up Enchantment and count what you still need. That tells you whether this visit should stock your bag or score reputation.

Gather: Take what the shop offers, plus a Good from each Artisan Dragon and Enchantment there. You may then place one Artisan Dragon in a matching empty slot and take its slot reward, Fire Up one dragon there, and use the shop’s ability. Fire Up means using a dragon’s printed power.

Enchant: Pay the cost of a face-up Enchantment whose icon matches the shop, then take its printed reward. A coin can replace a Good unless the card shows the no-coins icon. You may Fire Up every Artisan Dragon at that shop. You do not Gather its Goods or use its shop ability on this visit.

A scoring turn at Hello Nursery

Say Hello Nursery has Twig and Loaf working there, and the leaf-icon Orkish Orchids card is face up. Orkish Orchids costs two crystal and three bread. If you have one crystal, three bread, a coin, and one spare Good, Enchant Hello Nursery: use the coin for the second crystal, then take four reputation and an Artisan Dragon from the Enchantment reward. Fire Up Twig to give another player your spare Good for two more reputation. Fire Up Loaf to draw another Artisan Dragon. That is six reputation and two new dragons for your hand. The Enchantment also adds a plant Good when someone Gathers there later. Check that Hello Nursery was not the shop you visited last turn.

Compare that with Gathering there: the shop and Twig offer plant Goods, while Loaf offers bread. Gather is the better setup turn if those Goods help pay for a visible Enchantment later. If you are short on crystal or bread, visit a different shop that offers what you need; count its dragons and existing Enchantments too. If another player is at Hello Nursery, pay that player a Good or coin before you Enchant. Recount your supply after that payment—your spare Good may no longer be there for Twig.

With several turns left, Gather can build a scoring engine by filling a matching dragon slot and collecting Goods for a later Enchant. When the Artisan Dragon or Enchantment deck is nearly empty, look harder at an Enchantment you can afford now: unused Goods may have little time to pay off. Read the visible card rewards and the dragons at each matching shop. Shops, dragons, and cards appear in different orders, so choose the useful combo on your board, even if Hello Nursery’s little crew never gets together.
