How Turns, Gathering, and Enchanting Work
It is easy to spot the perfect dragon, visit its shop, and wonder why you cannot place it. The usual place-a-dragon step belongs to Gather. First visit a shop, then choose Gather or Enchant. That choice decides whether you collect goods now or spend them for a card reward.
Visit a shop first
Choose a shop different from the one you visited on your last turn. If other players are there, give each of them one Good or one Coin from your supply before taking your action. Goods you hope to Gather there cannot pay this entry cost. If you cannot pay everyone, choose another shop.
Turn order: Move to a different shop → pay any players there → choose Gather or Enchant → make the card, slot, Good, or target choices your action calls for → finish the turn. When a choice appears, check the highlighted card or icon and follow the on-screen confirmation step. Pass any optional step you do not want. Follow the controls shown on your platform rather than looking for a button in a fixed spot.
Gather: collect first, then place a dragon
- Collect: Take what the shop's top-left icon gives: a Good, a Coin, or an Artisan Dragon card. Each Artisan Dragon and Enchantment already at the shop adds the Good shown by its icon. An Artisan Dragon is a worker card placed in a shop; an Enchantment is a card tucked behind a shop.
- Place, if you wish: Put one Artisan Dragon from your hand in an empty slot with a matching icon, then take that slot's printed reward. The new dragon did not add a Good to the collection you just took.
- Fire Up, if you wish: Use the printed ability of one Artisan Dragon at this shop. The dragon you just placed can be your choice. Then you may use the shop's printed ability, if it has one.
At Drake of Cakes, read the bread icon, the dragons at work, and any Enchantments behind the shop before you Gather. Collect those goods first; then look for a matching slot in your hand. A slot reward or Fire Up ability can earn reputation when it shows the heart icon. Collecting bread alone does not.
Enchant: spend goods for a reward
Choose Enchant when you can pay for an available Enchantment whose top-left icon matches the shop. You can also cast one you reserved; a shop with a wild icon can take any Enchantment. Check the card's cost, choose it, and confirm the payment shown on screen. Each Coin can replace one Good unless the card shows the no-Coins icon. Take the card's printed reward when you cast it; a heart icon grants reputation. The Enchantment stays behind the shop and adds one Good to later Gather visits there.
After casting, you may Fire Up any number of Artisan Dragons at that shop, in an order you choose. You do not get the normal Gather placement step or the shop ability on an Enchant turn. Short one Good for the card you want? Gather where that Good is made, use a Fire Up ability that grants it, or pay with a Coin if the card allows one. Then move again on your next turn to a shop that can take the Enchantment. At the end of a turn, resolve any limit prompts for your hand and goods; the face-up Artisan Dragon and Enchantment rows refill before the next turn.
