How to Finish a Dress When a Pattern Piece Is Missing

In Dressmaker, a skirt front can seem to vanish just as your client’s dress takes shape. Before you spend more cloth on the runaway piece, check these spots. These steps use the September 24, 2026 Build 410 PC interface with a mouse and keyboard.

1. Check the cutting table. Look over the cut fabric and any paper patterns still lying on the table or fabric roll. If you used two fabric colors, check both. If the missing pattern is still on the roll, use the scissors to cut it out.
2. Check the piece list. Set the right-hand panel to Patterns, then hover over each piece in the inventory. The hint shows where that piece goes on the mannequin. Check front and back pieces and any left or right partner.
3. Check the mannequin. Rotate it to see the back. Pin any cut piece still in the list to its matching spot, then sew any seam still waiting. When the dress is assembled, look for the Sewing Complete prompt and Finish Dress button. Finish the dress, take its photo, then use the commission delivery option.

If a piece vanished after you unpicked a seam and is absent from the fabric, piece list, and mannequin, choose Save and Quit and reopen the save. In the launch-period game, this brought a missing piece back to the inventory; check the list again before recutting. If it stays missing, return to the sketchbook and use Restart Dress only after checking your fabric. In a launch-period restart, cut silk returned to uncut fabric, while the fabric purchase remained. Check the roll after restarting before you make another cut or purchase; that result is not a promise for every dress or later build.
