Like Rank Requirements and Area Access
You know the scene: your counter says 1,437 Likes, the Minami Beach Art Factory wants 1,500, and NATEM appears to have hidden the missing 63 points in a neon restroom or above a roof you cannot reach. Do not grind random screens. A short total usually means a one-time check is still open, a quest chain is unfinished, or a newer tool must bring you back.
Likes are your running popularity score. Use the Liker on valid ads and Like buttons, and walk through loose thumb pickups. A numbered ad checks your total without spending it. Social rank milestones and route barriers use the same counter, but they are separate locks in NATEM's very serious popularity department.
Social rank milestones
| Likes | Rank gained | What the total means for access |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | Social Rank 1 | Rank milestone only; no separate 100-Like route barrier is known. |
| 500 | Social Rank 2 | Your total is high enough for the earlier 300- and 450-Like barriers. Rank 2 does not open every Minami route. |
| 1,000 | Social Rank 3 | Also meets the 1,000-Like barrier inside KinoMAX. Quest doors deeper inside still need their own access rewards. |
| 2,500 | Social Rank 4 | Rank milestone only; late routes can still require the Hoverboard, a pass, or the Dark Katana. |
| 4,000 | Rank ADMIN | Also meets the 4,000-Like cleanup barrier at Minami Beach. |
Xbox achievement: Influencer unlocks at 2,000 Likes. That is an achievement checkpoint, not another in-world rank and not a reason to assign 2,000 to an unlabeled route. Read the number on the blocking ad; NATEM security does not accept achievement algebra.
Like barriers and what they open
| Region and visible barrier | Total | Destination or reward |
|---|---|---|
| Minami Beach: Are You a Bot? wall at the Furrobotto fountain, beside the Save Vending Machine | 300 | Opens the bridge route toward Master Chozai's house and the Katana sequence. |
| Minami Beach: Prove You Are Real wall on the upper stone-station route, below a Camera marker | 450 | Opens the blocked local walkway and its nearby pickups; it is not a transfer to a new region. |
| Nexus: Are You a Bot? wall inside the E-World entrance, near the Save Vending Machine | 800 | Opens the passage to the Universum Plaza station. |
| E-World — KinoMAX: Are You a Bot? wall to the right of the Condiments stand in the lobby | 1,000 | Opens the right-side lobby passage. Employee Access and Restricted Access still come from Cheng's KinoMAX quests. |
| Grifton: Prove You Are Real wall in front of the stairs to the right of the Networth overlook | 1,300 | Opens the descent to the lower city loop around the ring statue and the routes leading toward RCADE. |
| E-World — Universum Plaza: Prove You Are Real wall on the stairs between the upper left shopping route and the other half of the plaza | 1,400 | Connects the two sides of the plaza. Flooded routes and high shops still require the Hoverboard. |
| Minami Beach: Are You a Bot? wall at the Art Factory near the Bank and WeWorkout | 1,500 | Opens the Art Factory. Its five-photo task awards the WeWorkout membership; 30 dumbbell reps inside WeWorkout grant Strength. |
| Minami Beach: Are You a Bot? wall beside the skeleton's house, left of the Ferris wheel | 4,000 | Opens a late cleanup pocket with loose Likes and a ZIP chest containing a Liker skin. |
A later Are You a Bot? wall also blocks the Nexus junk-site route toward the Cryptomines. Use the total printed on that screen in your build. Do not borrow 2,000 from the Influencer achievement.
One-time Likes and repeatable rewards
| Activity | What it gives | How to treat it |
|---|---|---|
| Ads and Like screens | Likes or a route change when first activated | One-time check |
| Loose thumb pickups | Likes when collected | One-time pickup |
| Camera photos, QR scans, and hacking sequences | Likes on first completion | One-time check |
| ZIP chests with equipment skins | A skin plus Likes | One-time chest |
| Quest hand-ins | Only the reward shown: Likes, money, a tool, a pass, or a route | Usually one-time progression |
| Chronixx's latte after reloading Minami | $50, not Likes | Repeatable money |
Plan your Like total around the one-time checks. ATMs, store games, and repeatable cash jobs may help you buy things, but they are not an endless Like plan. Quest order changes which checks you can reach, so there is no single fastest route for every save.
Recovery checklist when your total is short
- Read the blocker. Check its exact number, then check the quest log. A pass, tool, or quest-state lock will not move just because you collect more Likes.
- Below 1,500: clear reachable ads, photos, QR marks, hacks, and loose thumbs in Minami Beach, Nexus, and the open side of E-World. Finish Eleanor's concert scan for the City Pass, open Grifton's 1,300-Like stairs, and complete the three RCADE coworker jobs to get the Hyperlinker.
- At 1,500: return to Minami by train. Take five Art Factory photos for the WeWorkout membership, do 30 dumbbell reps for Strength, then bring Strength and the Hyperlinker to the sewer below the Ferris-wheel pier. That route leads to the Hoverboard.
- From 2,500 toward 4,000: finish the late access chain before sweeping unreachable icons: complete the Cryptomines route for the Cult Mask, use it to enter Social Jungle, reach the Mansion for the Museum Pass, then finish the Museum for the Dark Katana.
- Late cleanup: with the Hyperlinker and Hoverboard, check the tree-lined ceiling corridors in Nexus, the roofs near the Cryptomines entrance, and both restroom areas in KinoMAX. With the Museum Pass, scan every QR display in the Museum.
- Still near 3,200: use the Dark Katana on the red chained door at Veblen Tower in Universum Plaza. That late route contains more Likes. The red chains are a tool check, not a popularity check.
Pickup trouble: Some loose thumbs, especially a high Nexus pickup, have a very tight collision zone. Approach from the other Hyperlink point and pass through the center of the thumb. If it still will not register, note your platform and game version; that is a pickup-collision problem, not evidence that NATEM expects an infinite farm.
