How to Repair Gear and Choose Your Next Upgrade
Repair worn or broken early equipment through the Crafting Table's Repair mode. Later gear may need its matching crafting bench. Durability measures an item's remaining condition. Tools and equipment wear down with use, and broken items become unusable until repaired.
You haul home logs in every inventory slot, then notice the nearly empty durability bar on the axe you need for the next run. Before the backpack wins another argument, unload your haul, repair your tools, and pick one upgrade to work toward.
Repair Your Equipment
- Open the Crafting Table. Bring the damaged equipment with you and interact with the table. On PC, the default interaction key is E. Your inventory appears on the left, with the crafting interface on the right.
- Switch to Repair mode. Use the Repair selector on the right side of the crafting menu to open the repair list.
- Select the worn or broken item. Read its displayed repair requirements, including the material names and quantities. Check each item separately. If the item is missing, check the Repair mode at the bench that crafts it.
- Meet the requirements and repair it. If materials are missing, collect the listed ingredients from storage or gather the shortfall. Return to Repair mode, select the item again, and activate the repair action once its requirements are met.
- Confirm restored durability. Inspect the item in your inventory and check its durability value or bar. Make sure it has been restored before repeating the process for your other worn gear.
If a repair will not go through, compare the required ingredient name with the material you brought. Bring the exact listed item. Check storage before setting out again; the missing ingredient may already be waiting at home.
Equipment Repairs and Building Repairs Are Separate
Crafting benches repair equipment. Damaged walls, floors, and other building pieces use Repair Mode within Build Mode, the interface for placing structures and furnishings. On PC, press B to enter Build Mode, then T to switch to Repair Mode. Target the damaged piece and follow its repair prompt and material requirements.
Choose One Useful Next Upgrade
Choose equipment that supports your next session, then compare its displayed stats and recipe with what you already own. A better tool can help turn that modest camp into the home and expedition base you have been planning. You do not need to chase every gear tier, or equipment strength level, at once.
| Your next session | Equipment goal and crafting bench | Practical payoff |
|---|---|---|
| Building | Inspect a logging axe upgrade at the Blacksmith's Bench. | Support the wood gathering needed for your next room or workshop expansion. |
| Gathering | Inspect a pickaxe upgrade at the Blacksmith's Bench. | Prepare your mining equipment for the materials you intend to collect. |
| Combat | Choose one weapon or armour piece. For upgrades beyond basic Crafting Table gear, check the Blacksmith's Bench for melee weapons, the Fletching Bench for bows, the Mystic Forge for staves, and the Armour Bench for head, body, or leg armour. | Address one equipment gap before another fight. Compare the item's displayed stats with your current gear before spending materials. |
Before You Leave Camp
- Tools repaired: Check the axe, pickaxe, and other equipment needed for this trip.
- One equipment goal chosen: Write down the exact item you want next.
- Correct bench identified: Open that station and inspect the item's recipe.
- Ingredient shortfall recorded: List each missing ingredient and quantity shown in the recipe. Count what you already have before gathering more.
- Room for the haul: Store materials you do not need on this trip so new finds have somewhere to go.
