What to Do First in Trosky

TL;DR: In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, do not rush straight to the Semine wedding the second Troskowitz opens up. Your best first stretch in Trosky is plain, practical work: speak with Bara, secure a proper bed through Radovan in Tachov, grab the free bow stash on the Tachov road if you want it, reclaim Pebbles in Semine, train with Tomcat, then decide if you want to start the longer search for Mutt before the wedding.

This is where many new runs wobble. Henry comes out of the stocks in a torn shirt, short on groschen, and the map suddenly feels like a list of errands nailed to your forehead. One wrong trip can turn into wolves, bandits, or a lost evening because you still do not have a safe bed or a reliable save. So do not try to out-stubborn the countryside. Build a base first. Once Henry has a bed, a horse, and one combat lesson that actually lands, Trosky starts feeling less like medieval paperwork with bruises and more like the grounded life this game is so good at selling.

Best Opening Route in Trosky

  1. Start in Troskowitz and talk to Bara. Ask about Tomcat to add Combat Training I to your journal. It is a small step, but it points you toward your horse, your training, and the next stops that matter.
  2. Go north to Tachov and work for blacksmith Radovan first. Forge the practice sword and you earn a room with your own bed and chest. That bed matters. Sleeping in a bed you own saves the game automatically, while a stranger's bed does not. Save your Saviour Schnapps for mistakes in the field, not for basic housekeeping.
  3. Pick up the easy road loot on the way. Between Troskowitz and Tachov, there is a small archery target site in the woods with a free bow, arrows, and a few marksmanship supplies. It is a low-risk grab, and early ranged damage helps a great deal against animals and messy first fights.
  4. Push Radovan's work until it sends you to Semine, then get Pebbles back. Henry can reclaim Pebbles from Groom Ballatay at the Semine stables. Persuasion can work. If it does not, buying her back is still one of the best early quality-of-life upgrades in Trosky. A horse cuts travel time, adds carry space, and Pebbles stays useful for longer than her first stats suggest.
  5. Visit the nomad camp and train with Tomcat. Combat Training gives you real practice with timing, combos, and the Master Strike, an advanced counter. If Tomcat folds Henry in the duel, take the lesson without pride. Come back with better gear and try again.
  6. If you want one more early goal, start looking for Mutt after that. Mutt is Henry's dog, and he is genuinely useful for combat commands and tracking, but this is not a tiny detour. The search runs across several stops in Trosky and ends with wolves, so bring food, bandages, and gear you trust.

Treat the wedding like a soft threshold, not a race. Before you go, keep your errands low-risk and useful. Gather herbs around Troskowitz, brew simple healing potions if you need money, repair gear instead of replacing it, and keep one clean outfit for respectable company. If you are deciding how to reach the wedding, the blacksmith route is the cleaner first run. The miller route is the better stop only if you specifically want stealth tools.

If your opening already feels messy, do not restart on instinct. Reset the run. Sleep in your owned bed, wash at a trough, sell extra herbs or forged items for groschen, buy food that keeps, and ride out on Pebbles instead of wearing holes in Henry's boots. That simple loop fixes more bad openings than it has any right to. Once the basics are in place, Trosky becomes what it should be: a careful medieval sandbox where each small gain feels earned, and Henry starts looking less like a man losing an argument with the whole countryside and more like someone who can live in it.
