Achievement Guide and 100 Percent Cleanup

The funny thing about finishing Flock Around is that the first half of the achievement list can fall over like a startled duck, then the back half asks you to become a calm little field scientist with a camera. You will have moments where the bird you need hides, flees, or turns its back the instant your co-op friend stomps into frame. When that happens, reset the chase: slow down, scan with binoculars, change your angle, and take the clean shot before anyone starts whistle practice.

For new players, think of achievements as three layers. First, clear the quick action checks. Next, clean up co-op, biomes, points of interest, upgrades, and cosmetics. Last, settle into the real Goose Lake grind: one guidebook photo, all four poses, all four poses at 3 stars, and shiny photos for every bird. A guidebook photo means a valid shot that gets developed and added to your in-game guidebook. A point of interest is a landmark photo target. A shiny bird is a rare sparkly variant, so treat shiny cleanup like a long hunt, not a timer challenge.

Recommended Cleanup Order

  1. Clear the fast actions first: Gold Star!, Is There Fall Damage?, That's A Keeper, Please Do Not Do This In Real Life, Photo Spammer, and SO LOUD.
  2. Do the simple photo setup achievements while you are still exploring: Twinsies, Walked Around, and Love Birds.
  3. Handle co-op checks with another player: Better Together and Hey Buddy :). Do not count on solo workarounds unless they work in your current build.
  4. Finish Sightseeing in Goose Lake by photographing all 10 points of interest, then develop the valid photos.
  5. Buy binocular and camera upgrades before the deepest collection cleanup, because better gear helps with missing birds, shinies, and 3-star photos.
  6. Equip cosmetics for Dripped Out after you have enough money and gear, unless your team has decided hats are the real endgame.
  7. Work through the long guidebook chain in order: Big Year in Goose Lake, Giant Year in Goose Lake, Enormous Year in Goose Lake, then Shiny Birds of Goose Lake.

Fast Achievement Notes

Photo Spammer is best done away from rare birds. Start right after refilling your film, stand in a quiet spot, then fire 20 shots in 20 seconds. The photos do not need birds, so do not turn a rare sighting into a blurry panic sandwich. SO LOUD needs one bird whistle used 10 times in 10 seconds. Buy any whistle, equip it, and use that same whistle fast near camp or in an empty patch unless you want every nearby bird to file a noise complaint.

That's A Keeper is tied to saving or copying a photo, so use the photo details option on a guidebook photo after it has been developed. Twinsies only needs two birds of the same species in one photo, so watch common flocking birds and frame wide enough to catch both bodies. Please Do Not Do This In Real Life is for feeding seeds to a bird. Pick a calm common bird, place its seed, and let the little snack goblin do the work.

Love Birds needs male and female birds in the same shot. Good targets are Varied Thrush, Evening Grosbeak, and Snowy Owl, because those have male and female guidebook entries. Use binoculars first, frame wide, then take backup photos before one bird wanders out like it has a tiny meeting to attend.

Co-op, Biomes, and POIs

Better Together requires playing with another person, and Hey Buddy :) requires a photo of a friend. If you are playing with a serious birding partner, knock these out at the start so nobody has to photobomb a rare sighting later. For Walked Around, get at least one bird photo from each Goose Lake biome: Woodland, Blossom, Marsh, Fall, Bluff, and Snow. If it does not pop right away, develop your shots and make one clean pass through each area.

For Sightseeing in Goose Lake, photograph every point of interest and develop the valid shots. Treat these like landmark photos, not bird snaps: stand still, center the object, keep it clear of trees or players, and take a second shot if the first frame looks blocked.

Upgrade and Cosmetic Cleanup

Fully Loaded Binos asks for every binocular upgrade. Buy the full binocular set from supplies shops, and prioritize anything that helps you spot new birds or shiny birds. The Highlight Shinies upgrade is especially useful late, because shiny birds can be easier to confirm through binoculars than with naked-eye squinting and hope.

Fully Loaded Camera asks for every camera upgrade. Camera upgrades matter for the late grind because photo scoring cares about the bird's size, centering, and pose. Buy the full set before you seriously chase Enormous Year in Goose Lake, where every required pose also needs a 3-star photo.

Dripped Out is the cosmetic cleanup achievement. Earn money from developed photos, buy enough cosmetics, and equip one item in every available cosmetic slot, including camera and binocular cosmetic slots. Save this until after the most useful gear upgrades unless fashion is the whole reason your birding team left the house. That is valid, but it will slow the completion route.

Long Completion Achievements

Big Year in Goose Lake is the first major wall: get at least one guidebook photo of every bird in Goose Lake. Do this before chasing perfect poses. A plain, valid photo is enough to mark progress, and it teaches you where each species tends to appear. Bird movement can vary, so use biome sweeps instead of camping one exact spot forever. If a bird will not show, leave the area, check another biome edge, then return with binoculars out.

Giant Year in Goose Lake raises the bar to all four pose photos for every bird: front, back, side, and flying. Work one species at a time and use your guidebook display to see which poses are missing. Enormous Year in Goose Lake is the 3-star version of that same job. For this, get closer without rushing, center the bird, keep the body large in frame, and wait for clean angles. If a shot keeps landing at 2 stars, stop chasing from behind and reset from the side or front before the bird panics.

Shiny Birds of Goose Lake is the marathon. You need a shiny photo of every bird, and shiny sightings are not guaranteed. Whistles can help you target a species, but they do not turn shiny cleanup into a schedule. When one appears, stop running, tell co-op friends to freeze, check with binoculars if needed, frame the bird, take backup shots, and develop the photo as soon as you can. This is the moment the whole game is built for: the rare sparkle, the hush, the perfect little bird celebrity finally standing still long enough for your guidebook to believe you.
