Sandbike Mk1 Unlock and Build (Update 1.5)

Your first pile of Sandbike parts can look ready to ride right up until you count the treads. Arrakis asks for three. In Dune: Awakening Update 1.5, open Research → Vehicles → Copper → Sandbike Mk1 Assembly and spend 2 Intel points. With guided research, this unlock opens during Across the Gap. If your world uses unlocked research, check the tile sooner; you still need the Intel. The same unlock gives you the Welding Torch Mk1 used to assemble the bike.

Make the parts

If water is low or a storm is coming, head to safety before making another supply run. Containers at Imperial Testing Station No. 2 can hold Sandbike parts, Advanced Servoks, and Particle Capacitors. Cut copper deposits with a Cutteray, then turn the ore into ingots at a powered Small Ore Refinery. In Update 1.5, that refinery uses 4 Copper Ore per Copper Ingot. Make the parts below at a powered Fabricator or Vehicle Fabricator.

  • Chassis Mk1: 12 Copper Ingots, 5 Advanced Servoks.
  • Hull Mk1: 12 Copper Ingots, 5 Advanced Servoks.
  • Engine Mk1: 5 Copper Ingots, 3 Particle Capacitors.
  • PSU Mk1 (power supply): 5 Copper Ingots, 3 Particle Capacitors.
  • Three Tread Mk1 parts: 3 Copper Ingots and 1 Advanced Servok each.

Crafting every bike part takes 43 Copper Ingots, 13 Advanced Servoks, and 6 Particle Capacitors. Craft the Welding Torch Mk1 at a Fabricator for another 6 Copper Ingots. Looted parts can lower the material bill, but check the Across the Gap objectives: a step that says “Fabricate” may require you to craft the part yourself.

Assemble, fuel, ride

  1. Take all five part types, including three treads, and the Welding Torch to clear ground near your base. Equip the torch, place the chassis, then aim at its attachment points to fit the hull, engine, PSU, and treads.
  2. Get a Small Vehicle Fuel Cell from loot or make one at a powered Small Chemical Refinery from 25 regular Fuel Cells. If you need the refinery, find its 1-Intel unlock under Research → Construction → Salvage. With guided research, it opens during Across the Gap. Build the refinery with your Construction Tool for 45 Copper Ingots.
  3. Interact with the finished bike, choose the fuel option, and add the Small Vehicle Fuel Cell. Test the bike near your base before packing for a crossing. Water and a safe route still come first.

Stuck? Check your pack and storage for a missing part, then craft the exact part you need; the tread line needs three copies. If Across the Gap does not advance, track it and read the active step. For a “Fabricate” step, craft the item and put it in your pack or assemble it as directed. If the refuel step stays stuck, install the latest Update 1.5 hotfix and restart the game. Keep your working bike while you seek support instead of spending materials on a second one.
