Opening Camp: Get Past the First Food Gate

A locked passage can send you hunting through every corner for a missing clue. Deep Dish Dungeon’s first door wants dinner. Before you turn camp upside down, get the fire going and fill your stomach.

Opening details credit: NPC Tips’ beginner guide, labelled Steam build 25955406.

Cook, drink, then try the door

  1. Light the campfire. Bring the sticks you gathered to the fire and add them as fuel.
  2. Cook and eat. Cook an apple and a mushroom at the fire, collect the prepared food, then eat both. Carrying dinner in your bag does not fill your stomach.
  3. Drink at the fountain. Use the fountain near the first door to drink Clean Water. Cooked apple, cooked mushroom and Clean Water form an opening combination to try.
  4. Recheck the door. Interact with it again. Its requirement is a full stomach; use that condition as your completion check.

If the door still refuses you, check your stomach slots—the spaces showing your active food effects—for Empty Stomach Slot. Return to the fire or fountain and fill the gap before trying again. The combination above is an opening option, not a mandatory menu or a rule that raw food never counts.

Recognize your first hub

The next door needs a small key, found in the rooms beyond the food gate. Past these starting doors, recognize the first large hub by its campfire, sleeping bag and chest. Several paths branch from this room, making it a useful first base.

Before exploring farther, eat, bring a torch and pause to remember which entrance brought you into the hub. Food prepares you for the trip, light helps you read the room, and familiar landmarks help turn strange passages into connections you can use. A good expedition starts with dinner and a way home.
