When Does a Managed Shop Pay You?

You squeezed another bookshelf into a shop with barely room to turn around. Now its manager seems to be earning pocket lint. Before you rearrange the whole business, check the clock: in Bookshop Simulator, managed-shop payments follow in-game hour boundaries.

Update 0.13 changed remote-shop income from a day-end lump sum to hourly simulation and payment. A remote shop is a location you own but are not currently in. Each hour, on the hour, the game simulates the preceding hour for locations other than your current one, then immediately pays the passive income due.

Check the next hourly payment

  1. Confirm the remote shop's setup. That location needs its own Manager Desk and a manager hired through Zap Recruiter, the hiring app. A desk alone does not complete the setup.
  2. Travel to another location and stay there through an in-game hour boundary. Keep the game running and let the clock reach the next full hour. The shop you are currently operating does not receive a remote-shop payment.
  3. Watch for the purple currency indicator. This pop-up is your immediate receipt: it shows how much you received from each remote location.

The day-end screen still summarizes your passive income for the day. You can use it to review the total, but you no longer need to wait until day-end to see payments arrive.

If no receipt appears, recheck that the intended shop has both its hired manager and Manager Desk. Then leave it and watch another hour boundary from a different location. This checks the setup and timing; it does not guarantee a positive payment every hour. Once you know when to look, you can get back to building the bookshop you actually want to browse.
