Puzzle Ability Answers: Command or Twine?

You’ve opened three menus to find one useful ability, returned to the obstacle, and your Aniimo is still beside you. Before another trip through the icons, check who you’re controlling. In Aniimo, selecting a companion and Twining with it are different actions. Twining means taking the creature’s form and controlling it yourself. If the prompt asks you to Twine, choose the named companion, then follow the displayed Twine control.

Command Mode keeps you in your human character’s form, called a Pathfinder. You give orders to your companion. Twine Mode lets you become that Aniimo and control its movement and skills directly. This is where a favorite companion becomes more than a team portrait: you get to explore Idyll through its abilities.

Command or Twine: which action comes next?

Match the instruction on your screen to the rows below. The requirement descriptions summarize the kinds of prompts covered here. These answer the mode and input question; each obstacle still needs its own stated ability and conditions.

Command your Aniimo to attack a targetCommand ModeSelect the companion, lock onto an attackable target ahead, and use the displayed attack command. Issue the command again after changing targets.Your Pathfinder stays human while the companion fights in the commanded direction. Check that it acts on the intended target.
Twine with a named AniimoTwine ModeChoose that Aniimo and use the displayed Twine action once. You take the creature’s form and control its movement. Read its skill prompts before continuing.
Use the selected Aniimo’s Mobility abilityTwine ModeConfirm that the creature has the needed movement ability, then use the displayed Mobility control. The named movement begins. For example, Budclaw’s Tunnel takes it underground and steadily uses stamina.
Aim and use a creature skillTwine ModeFor an aiming skill, hold its displayed control, adjust the camera toward the target, then release to fire.Aim mode appears while held; releasing sends the skill in your chosen direction. Check whether the intended target reacts.

Check the companion, then the changed controls

  1. Read the blocker’s instruction. Note the named Aniimo, ability, target, and any stated condition.
  2. Open Aniimo Management and select the companion. Check its available skills and movement ability. Use the Skills button to inspect learned combat skills. Match the ability’s effect to the requirement; appearance or element alone is not enough.
  3. Select the matching companion for use. Return to the obstacle and confirm that the selected Aniimo is the one you need.
  4. Follow the required mode. If the instruction calls for Twining, use the displayed Twine action and wait until you control the creature. Selecting its portrait alone does not complete this step. If it calls for a command, stay in human form.
  5. Read the skill prompts again. After Twining, your creature’s controls matter. Use the named skill or Mobility action, then check the obstacle and objective for the required change.

Ability unavailable or input not registered?

Prerequisite check: the ability is unavailable. If the selected companion lacks the named ability, choose one that has it. If the game displays an unmet requirement, complete that requirement first. Repeating the input cannot supply a missing ability. Gliding, diving, and burrowing depend on the abilities available to you; catching one Aniimo does not make every route passable.

Input check: the ability is available, but nothing happens. Confirm your selected companion and current form. If Twining is required and you are still human, use Twine once, then watch for the transformation before pressing anything else. Pressing Twine again untwines you, so repeated taps can undo the switch. For skills that use EP, the team’s shared skill energy, check the blue orbs beneath the Aniimo’s status bar; skills light up when enough EP is available. Mobility does not use EP, though an ability such as Tunnel can use stamina.

If the skill plays but the obstacle stays unchanged, check the target, aim, and stated condition before switching companions again. Let the action finish, reposition, and make one deliberate attempt. A successful transformation shows that Twining worked; check the obstacle’s response to judge your next attempt.
