PEAK Online Subscription Requirements
A promising wall, an empty stamina bar, and a rope still sitting in your pack: PEAK already has enough ways to stall an expedition. Check everyone's online access before sharing the room code, the code friends use to join your lobby. Get the crew together first; then turn the next questionable climb into a summit story.
| Platform | Subscription for online co-op | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, or Premium | Essential covers online multiplayer. Premium is required for supported cloud streaming, not for online co-op with PEAK installed. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate | These are the US online multiplayer options. You also need access to PEAK itself. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Nintendo Switch Online | Check that your membership is active and that you have access to PEAK. |
Keep three checks separate: owning or otherwise having valid access to PEAK, having console online multiplayer access, and having cloud-play access. A multiplayer subscription does not replace the game entitlement. Cloud play means streaming the game instead of running an installed copy; you do not need it to join friends from an installed copy.
For Xbox cloud play in the US, you must purchase PEAK. Cloud play supports Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate, but that cloud-play label does not mean PEAK is included in a subscription game catalog. On PlayStation, the Premium cloud-streaming requirement is separate from the PS Plus requirement for online multiplayer.
If a subscription prompt blocks your join attempt, check your membership status and confirm access to PEAK before buying anything else. Once online access is active, return to PEAK and retry the host's room code. Solo: offline solo play needs no online subscription, so you can tackle the mountain alone while the crew sorts out access.
