Batch Crafting: Check Your Inputs
Another scavenging trip, another pile of loot—and still one ingredient short. Apocalypse retail has a very specific shopping list. In The Walking Trade, batch crafting means making multiple items automatically at a crafting station. Before planning a long run, check the recipe and the materials the station can actually use.
PC scope: Steam PC through v1.2.11, as of October 19, 2026.
- Confirm the intended recipe. Check that the selected recipe produces the item you want. Use its listed requirements as your checklist.
- Prepare every required input. Inputs are the materials a recipe consumes. Match each item and amount to the selected recipe. Gather those materials at the crafting station and check that the recipe recognizes them. A supply sitting on a warehouse shelf or pallet is not proof that it is available to this craft.
- Check the batch configuration. Set the crafting station’s batch settings for your intended run. Start with a small batch you can supply before committing to a longer one.
- Keep the inputs available. Automatic crafting still needs materials for each repeat. Recheck the selected recipe’s remaining inputs as production continues; the batch cannot keep producing once a required material runs out.
If production stalls, return to the recipe’s requirements. Replenish the missing input at the station, confirm that enough materials are available for one craft, then recheck the batch settings. Get that small run working before scaling up. That is how a heap of scavenged junk becomes useful stock for your survivor business.
