Opening Story: Constable Hawthorne needs you to investigate rumors of witchcraft and missing girls in Salem, Massachusets. Familiarize yourself with the items located at the bottom of your screen, as you may need to click on one or all of them as you navigate through the game.!
General Tips:
From left to right:
Journal: These are your notes, and as more are added, the journal will flash. Click on it to read updated information.
Menu: You can click on the menu to exit the game, adjust the volume for the sound/music, start a new game, or click on help.
Inventory: This is where you store all the items you collect along the way. If you see something along the way that you can add to your inventory, the mouse will turn into a grabbing hand, and your item will then be added. If you should need an item from your inventory, simply click and drag it to the screen, and if it can be used, it will.
Tasks: The tasks act as a guide for what you need to do next (find the first girl, carve the pumpkin, etc.) You can follow them in order, or you can complete tasks in your own order.
Map: When you click on the map, you’ll see the areas that are available to you – the more places you walk to, the more places will be revealed on the map. You will show up as a red dot to mark your current location. Go to the areas that sparkle, as these are areas that have hidden object puzzles – and where you will be able to add a needed item to your inventory.
Notes: When you see an area that sparkles, move your mouse over it. Your cursor should turn into a magnifying glass that reveals either a hidden object puzzle, or a needed clue.
Make sure to move your cursor over the screen as you move from place to place. Some of the items that need to be added to your inventory are hidden in hard-to–see places.
