Getting the Ladder

I am stuck in the scene where he is trying to get into the archives!! Help! He can't seem to push the machine over to the window to climb in! (The air lift or whatever it is called!) Keeps saying "You have to push harder but you can't get past a certain point with out it rolling backwards! Hint kept just clicking on the airlift but no luck after wasting hints! Help!
