how to win stars

I have already the train , but how can i win stars to win the ferry for example?
I win tournement after tournement but no stars!?

I have the same problem. Also in another named game I own thw stagecoach and the steamship but can not get to the train.
Can anyone help????

You have to go to each town of the star color searching untill you'll find the star above the building go in and then you'll win it.
