It should be in the house somewhere. I know this isn't very helpful but just keep looking.
I have the same problem with the remote. I have already earned the badge for finding it. After I upgraded all of the rooms, it just disappeared. I looked everywhere! Never mind they can't find it - I can't find it either!!!
