I managed to get thru the whole puzzle and now have 95 villagers and plenty of tech points and food. Questions - To bang the gong. Do I wait 24 hrs my time? And do I use a Master to bang it? What do I do with the extra totem poles? What are the numbers 124, 224 etc. that you post after each recipe?

The numbers after the recipe's are the plants that are used
number 1 is the the plant next to the dry gr (for the fire in top left hand corner) number 2 is the blue one at the top middle and so follow the plants round in clockwise fashion (there are 6 plants alltogether) so
124= (1)the plant next to the dry gr, (2)the blue plant at top middle (near the stones) and (4) is the black plant next to the waterfall.
Sorry dont know about the rest of the question, i havent quite reached that far yet :(
