Cog puzzle on the lift

Has anyone had trouble after putting the cogs in the puzzle on the lift, they're in the correct places, and the lift won't work? I get the message that there must be something wrong on the outside of the lift, but I can't find anything wrong

I'm having the same problem, there is no explanation in the walkthrough... Help Please!!

I feel silly but there is a tiny hidden cog in plain sight on the bottom right peg .. it goes in the middle.

Did you pull the lever after?
