league of light:silent mountain

does anyone have any idea, about the underground portion of the game, when
you get thrown down in the pit, with the stream and the Rock monster. I found the circular device and put the two rings into it, and unless I did something wrong, its stuck. The guide that I have for it, came through the website, only shows the point of manpulation of the device, nothing else. So is it really stuck or is there something else I need to do, to move through the rest of the game ?
