eric's name

Has anyone else had a problem trying to get the machine to spell "Eric". No matter how many times I try to get the "R" I just can't get it. Does anyone have a solution to this problem.

I forgot where the room is or the hall, but when you see a picture on the wall, click on it to remove any items, (make the parents normal again. And on the lower left, is the kid Eric, Now on the right is a mini game, you need to spell his name, just pull the lever, then click the center dial it'll go through letters, doesn't matter where you start.
