find the feathers

I have gone back to the apprpriate islands to pick up the feathers but there are none by any of the trees with the nests in them. Is there something that has to be done to trigger them showing?

Have you been to firefly island? one of the quests on the island is to meet the sages that live there. one will give you a quest to find the feathers that he needs.
