Glitch in boys room

Has anyone heard about an update to fix the fact that you can't progress from the boys room after fixing the remote control? Only thing that works on the screen is the MENU button. Thanks.

The update makes you start over but if you complete the barrel blowing up the gnome, the game advances. I had to cheat and consult the strategy guide to find out how to do that.
