Namariel Legends: Iron Lord

I am on the air ship, they have just taken my Uncle and I am trying to follow him in the escape ship. The game wants me to fill a puzzle board with a chain of lights but I am unable to grasp the first light to drag on it and fill the board. Any suggestions? I would sure appreciate the help. Thanks.
