Investigation 9 - light bulbs

I have tried two different suggestions on the light bulbs but nothing works. The bulbs do not light up and I try right and left clicking and I am going nowhere with this procedure. I am ready to quit the game if I cannot get past this. Any suggestions?

This is from the walkthrough:

1. we need to place the light bulbs in the correct order
2. when a bulb is in the right spot it will blink and can't be removed
3. hint: rainbow
4. this puzzle can easily be solved by simply taking one bulb at a time and trying it in each spot

You should be able to right click on the bulb and simply swap it with another bulb. Click on one bulb and then click the bulb you want to swap it with.
