I find the best strategy is to breed the canary fire-arrows and then sell them for $450 each.
I've found that leaving a green spotanus AND an oriental goldbulb in the breeding tank gives you babies in ten minutes, as fast as you sell them, you've got more. It seems more down to the goldbulb than the spotanus!
I then but the growth stuff to make them grow faster so I can sell them even quicker.
