Additional Resource Bonus

How does the additional resource bonus work? It seems that it only gives an additional resource when you are chopping wood. I thought it was supposed to give you additional resources for bundles of goods (I thought it did in previous versions)

Chopping wood, picking berries, piles of gold, and piles of stone. Pretty much anything that doesn't come from a building gets the bonus.
