I understood how to move the handles based on the poem, but when I had done it correctly (I checked the guide) no hanky showed up - now I am stuck. I tried this game twice and got stuck here both times - help!!

If the hanky doesn't appear, then it might be a glitch in the game. If you bought it from BFG, I would contact them about it. You mentioned you looked at the guide, so you know where the hanky is supposed to appear at and can't be overlooking it. I'm assuming it's a glitch.
